Shared at a brew club meeting. Think someone snagged this one from a brew competition. Actually an oak-aged imperial amber.

A - Brown pour, 2 finger golden head, dissipates fast.

S - Oak, caramel, molasses and honey.

T - Oak, honey, caramel and molasses.

M - Light on the mouthfeel, but smooth.

D - Very good, and tangy. Wish they would produce this one more often.

10 ounce glass at the Bistro in Hayward for four dollars, consumed on 1/23/09, reviewed from notes, an imperial red ale aged five months in a French Oak Syrah barrel and unfiltered, color is a medium orange with some red mixed in, thin 1/2 inch bubbly white head that does not last long, not much lace either, aroma is made up of vanilla, red wine, caramel, oak, milk chocolate, and roasted nuts, flavor is all over the place and keeps things interesting, tons of wood in the flavor, sweet caramel in the middle, slight tannic qualities in the finish, gets sweeter as it warms, cherries comes to the surface by the end, sweet, oaky, and dry mouthfeel, thin body, high level of carbonation, taste lingers with sweetness, could drink another glass of this, alcohol is well hidden for a brew around nine percent, not filling either, best beer I have had from Blue Frog hands down, would like to drink again some time, recommended
