Ordered a 12oz. pour of this at the brewpub in Fairfield on Wednesday. Review written using notes.

Served in a chilled, skinny, 12oz. mug (almost like a stange).

Appearance: Arrived with a half-inch, foamy, light brown head. Nice retention and very nice lacing. The brown body was far from opaque and showed vertical streaks of crimson.

Smell: Dark chocolate dominated the nose. Roasted malt and lactose were also present, but each of the two was mild compared to the strong dark chocolate aroma. Those other flavors caught up (a little) as the beer warmed.

Taste: Dark chocolate once again reigned supreme. Charred, roasty flavors and piney hops also made a decent showing but were, again, light in comparison. Finished pretty bitter and not very pleasant-tasting.

Mouthfeel: Malty, bitter, and dry. Carbonation was a smidge higher than I liked it, leaving a small residual burn on the palate. Body was a little light for the style, dry, and a touch harsh.

Drinkability: This porter was not too good in any category, but the imperfections in the mouthfeel bring the drinkability below average. At best, this beer is just boring.
