22oz bottle.

Pours clear gold with a half inch head of white. A solid skim coat remains for the duration with nicely torn lacing.

Aromatics lead off with a light blend of pine, grapefruit, and husky malt. The hops are subdued for the style and far from pungent or floral.

Medium bodied with a crisp, tacky mouthfeel. Slightly gummy.

Bright pine sap, grapefruit pith, and caramel malt start the palate. A decent enough level of resins and bitterness, but not chock-full-'o fresh hops. Hints of toffee and a trace of wet paper keep the hops subdued also in this malt-forward brew.

Finishes with a mildly lingering bitterness, pine-rubbed grapefruit, and a bit of citrus zest.

This one's tasting a bit beat up. Either that or it never was too hopped up.

More hops please and dry up the malt.

Pours an active amber gold with clingy snow white carpet and cathedral lacing. Sour mash malts and orange bark hops on the nose, with a disturbing rotting berry scent underneath. Chocolate malts with orange cake and tropical fruit mush, cherry cough drop hops with some skunk but no real bite. Light and fizzy without much burn.

What's all this chocolate doing here - in a black IPA, maybe, but in a DIPA? And where's the hop kick? Not even enough bitterness for a regular California IPA.

Blue Frog continues to be unimpressive.

This beer appears a light golden brown color with about an inch of white foam.

The smell is dominated by caramel malts, grapefruit and orange flavor.

It tastes of caramel and brown sugar due to the malts. An orange peel flavor is also apparent. A citrus like bitter flavor is noticeable but strikes near the end and is covered up by some sweetness. Hops are noticeable in this beer but malts also share the stage with them equally.

The carbonation is moderate low. The drinkability is ok it is a quite heavy beer so I don't think that I would want more than a glass of this.

Overall a decent DIPA that is not a hop bomb but it is very nice and well balanced.

A: The pour is amber in color with a touch of white head on it. There is a bit of lacing on the glass as well.

S: The nose is quite nice with notes of grapefruit and pine. The citrus is quite juicy and fresh, and there is a sweet caramel malt behind it.

T: Unfortunately, the flavors completely miss the mark, here. I found the beer to be overly sweet and bready without much citrus hop flavor nor bitterness.

M: The mouthfeel is decent enough: medium in body with a moderate carbonation.

D: I don't know why I even bother with these guys anymore. I was really hoping this one would be good after smelling it, but the flavor was a complete let down, as usual.
