Pours a vibrant, hazed orange color with a finger of yellow-tinted white head that leaves decent lacing. Big grapefruit aroma with a nice whiff of white pepper behind. Medium bodied, just a little creamy, with a nice prickliness from the carbonation and flavor. The grapefruit and slight pepper are present again in the taste, although slightly more muted, with a delicious, hugely-bitter aftertaste. Solid.

Cloudy orange-brown. Smell is skunky, rotten fruit. Hop bomb at first taste, some citrus aftertaste. taste stays in mouth. Not creamy as it goes down, but edgy. A lot of character. Something quirky about it that I find appealing.

L: Poured into a tulip. Thin quickly dissipating head that leaves a bubbly and lacey remainder. Clear golden color, looks good.

S: Delightfully hoppy, can definitely get some of the dry hops from the smell. Very citric, with some floral tones. I can even whiff the malt at the end that goes great with the floral/sweet smell. Very good smelling beer, so I have high hopes.

T: Strong and hoppy up front with a smooth malty finish. Plenty of citrus and floral flavors throughout. It seems like the fundamental for this IPA are so strong that the complex flavors don't really come out a lot.

F: Medium body, great dry hopped feeling on the tongue that continues well after you can your sip. The lingering taste is a pleasant one.

O: Damn good IPA. Strong basics with hops and malt in the back, but not a lot to speak for complex flavors.

Bottle from Whole Foods. Cloudy orange golden pour with small skin of airy head. Funky, musty, citrusy, resembles an APA more than an IPA. A bit of a let down after Elevated.

Bottle date 12/14/15, poured into 20 oz snowman mug at my in-laws 1/22/16. Golden color moderate haze, loose cream colored head faded (no wonder). But this is a fantastic spicy/ herbal/ dank hop treat - huge hop aroma and flavor make this equal to some of the leviathans from the East Coast (Heady... Lawsons... most by Other Half). Malt profile is bready malt with a little caramel sweetness, but appropriately dry and solidly bitter. But is totally overshadowed by the massive hops. Love the clear bottle dating and full recipe breakdown on the bottle (stated DH is Citra Simcoe Cent Chinook and Mosaic - I get a dankness that I usually associate w Amarillo or Columbus, but guess not). Amazing hop wizardry here, great job Marble.

Yellow and light amber colors swirl, leaving a full inch of head with average retention and lace. Aroma only leans hoppy when uber fresh, after that a malty contingent comes around towards the back end of the six pack.

Mixture of good hoppy c hops and heat. Balanced in terms of American ipa with the malt, pine and grapefruit, bitterness etc. . .

Its a pretty straightforward kind of ipa. When you can get it for $1.50 a bottle, its worth it, when fresh.

Poured into a pint glass from a bottle.

Appearance: nice and brite. Head forms quickly when poured but fades quickly as well with little if any head retention.

Aroma: hops upfront - citrus and maybe some light pine. The malt aroma come through as sweet bread.

Flavor: this beer is well balanced. Hops are the headlinng act. The malt is present but plays the backseat. The only standout hop flavors are citrus and pine. I get no tropical flavors typical of Simcoe or Citra. I don't know, thogh, what type of hops are used in this IPA.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied but heavy enough that drinking several would definitely fill you up and slow you down.

Overall: a very nice effort. 'Balanced' is the operative descriptor of this beer. It is hoppy - obviously given the style - but the malt is right there too. Very well done. Certainly better than most readily-available IPAs.

12oz can with a travel mug
Noted on 06/17/2015

Picked this one up at the Whole Foods in Sedona, AZ

A: Pours a soft caramel amber body with some decent clarity to it. Frothy tan head that swells out of my camper mug. I can see some thin tracks of lace and a few random dots stay clinging to the walls.

S: The nose is fairly pronounced with a malt breadiness and sweet caramel accents. Not overly so but enough to be first intro here. From there the citrus-grapefruit takes hold and it is quite pithy and floral with a light dusting of pines in tow. I get a dash of lemony herbals and even some tropical mango to this as well.

T: A decent steadiness between the pale malts and citrusy pine hops. Biscuit with cracker and a light caramel sweetness meets a grapefruit centric citrus note. There is a light herbal and dank element to this as well and fleeting tropical fruit twist that I am really digging. Just wish it was more so here. The beer has a moderate amount of perceived bitterness and there is no alcohol coming through in the flavor. Some stone fruit like esters mixed in. A ittle jumbled here I would say and any aftertaste falls off pretty quickly form here.

M: Light to moderate filling body with a nice bouncy feel from the carbonation. Slightly resinous but mostly clean with a mildly constricting bitterness building up to a drying finish.

D: Another so-so IPA coming out of the South West. Was excited to see this one but perhaps my palate is spoiled. It’s a quality brew just nothing ground breaking and even still somewhat uninteresting to me. Like many of these I have tried lately it rides in that above-average B-B+ range for me.
