Initial impression from a can:

Rather bitter for a red ale, especially on the finish. Finishes dry, scraping, and unrefreshing.

07/13/18:

Loaded with too much crystal malt, rendering it too malty.

Nice red appearance with off white head that disipates quickly. Taste is a slightly sweet malt with a prominent hoppy presence. This is more of a darker ipa than a red ale.

One of my favorite New Mexico beers. I have had it on tap and from a bottle and it is definitely better from tap, but great from a bottle as well. Nice mahogany color with nice beige head and lacing. Rich smell and taste, caramel, earthy, and malt. Very nice red ale. Great with New Mexican food - Christmas of course!

Clear red with two fingers of bone color head that sticks around for about ten minutes and leave good lacing.
Smell is floral hops and caramel malt.
The taste is floral hop bitterness with a good amount of sweet caramel malts.
Mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation. The finish is balanced with a long lingering dry bitterness.
Overall a fine red IPA.

I tried this beer at the Agave Lounge in the El Dorado hotel located in the old part of Santa Fe. It poured a clear amber with thin white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had hints of caramel malt. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink. The mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall it was a solid beer.

Had this at Sammy C's in Gallup New Mexico while on vacation. Beer pours a red to Amber color with small white head. The smell is hops and it's definitely in the flavor especially the swallow. Overall an ok beer IPA lovers will like it.

Can from ABV or Tin Bucket - I can't remember which.

A clear deep mahogany red with a dense, off-white head with excellent retention and lacing, this looks great! The nose is a great blend of candied grapefruit, pine, mild floral notes, a great toasty, caramel note with a touch of burnt sugar and toffee. The Vienna malt adds a firm, bready malt backbone to pair with the caramel notes. Quite excellent. The palate opens bitter with a blend of pine, grapefruit and some tropical notes followed by grapefruit and navel orange juice, a little bit of a floral/jasmine note and even some grapes. The mid-palate is creamy with caramel, toffee, dark honey, a little bit of earth, pairing very nicely with the bitterness. Mildly sweet and moderately bitter on the finish, this beer is creamy on the palate. Pine and grapefruit linger on the finish, fruity and refreshing. Quite excellent.
