Oh baby, it’s Red and it’s a good one. Think Taylor Swift when she isn’t writing terrible songs about the haters. Think Cincinnati with Johnny Bench. Think the Beatles if they went the USSR… Ok, time to go.

Received from @lordoftheweins in a trade. No evident canning date but a "best by." Poured from 12 oz. can into a Spiegelau IPA glass. It pours a hazy, reddish amber with a large, foamy, ecru-colored cap and lots of soapy lacing. There's abundant caramel malt in the smell along with notes of lemon, grapefruit, and pine needles. The taste can best be described as earthy, nutty, caramel with dark toasted bread and a bitter, hoppy bite. The can and the brewery's website on identify "Pacific Northwest" hops so I'm assuming it's brewed with one or more "C" hops. It has a good, clean bitterness throughout. The mouth feel is fairly lite and crisp with appropriate carbonation, and the 8.5% ABV gives it lots of substance. Overall, this is a fine Red IPA with lots of character.

Clear amber body with khaki ring and yet thick lacing. Smells of crystal malt with a hint of caramel, toast, and faint earth. Taste has more caramel malt definition, toast, dry earth, some earthy and piney hops finish gently. Malts lead in the feel too, well rounded and full without being weighty, dries out through the sip. Enjoyed this with a burrito in the desert

Had this I believe as a guest tap at Three Rivers Brewery. The ol' step dad level beer. Red beer pours red, slightly darker than average. Off white head 1/2" deep.
Taste is typical of a red ale, you get that malty redness to it, decent amount of C hop bitterness and some tree like notes. Gripload of crystal malt all over this, if you don't like your 100ibu dipas loaded with crystal, I doubt you'll be a fan of it here, same type of flavor and mouth feel pitfalls going on here as there. Sticky, bitter, slightly harsh. The alcohol isn't all hot though, so that is nice.
Its not just all caramel though, its earthier and somehow, stickier than that. The overwhelming C hop bitterness, all bittering hops take on this can give a feel of dryness on the backend, but it is only by that virtue of the hefty bitterness with little hop flavor beyond the tree/grapefruit drone.

From tasting notes 11/01/18
Had on-tap at El Pinto in Albuquerque, New Mexico
Appearance - Served 12oz mug, coppery color broken layer of suds. Good lacing; broken webbing and spotting.
Smell - Aroma floral and malty with notes of toast and faint caramel.
Taste - Some citrus hops upfront but quickly turn floral. Solid toasty malt backbone w/ hints of caramel. Finish is strong with floral character and leaves some soapy flavor.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with fair, tingly carbonation. Slick, easy drinker before a mostly dry finish.
Overall - Decent red. I'm not too keen on the flavor profile but it drinks easy enough.

Initial impression from a can:
Rather bitter for a red ale, especially on the finish. Finishes dry, scraping, and unrefreshing.
C / AVERAGE
***
07/13/18:
Loaded with too much crystal malt, rendering it too malty.
Low C / AVERAGE
***
08/01/18 impression:
Sticky amber malt. Sweet crystal malt. Mild floral hop flavour.
More of a dry mouthfeel and a toastier malt backbone would help, as would more prominent hop notes.

Nice red appearance with off white head that disipates quickly. Taste is a slightly sweet malt with a prominent hoppy presence. This is more of a darker ipa than a red ale.

One of my favorite New Mexico beers. I have had it on tap and from a bottle and it is definitely better from tap, but great from a bottle as well. Nice mahogany color with nice beige head and lacing. Rich smell and taste, caramel, earthy, and malt. Very nice red ale. Great with New Mexican food - Christmas of course!

Clear red with two fingers of bone color head that sticks around for about ten minutes and leave good lacing.
Smell is floral hops and caramel malt.
The taste is floral hop bitterness with a good amount of sweet caramel malts.
Mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation. The finish is balanced with a long lingering dry bitterness.
Overall a fine red IPA.

I tried this beer at the Agave Lounge in the El Dorado hotel located in the old part of Santa Fe. It poured a clear amber with thin white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had hints of caramel malt. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink. The mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall it was a solid beer.

Had this at Sammy C's in Gallup New Mexico while on vacation. Beer pours a red to Amber color with small white head. The smell is hops and it's definitely in the flavor especially the swallow. Overall an ok beer IPA lovers will like it.
