120z bottle into a pint glass. bottled 7/26/16, so about 2 1/2 months old. part of a haul courtesy of Brian & josh.

very deep amber/red body, slightly cloudy. small off white head, with some lacing.

nothing on the nose. nothing good, nothing bad. neutral.

strong tingly slightly sour bitterness. strong malt foundation.

mouth between medium and full. slightly bitter on the finish.

overall, a pretty decent amber ale from a very good brewery.

Tastes of Pine, not super-bitter, but bitter enough bite, like a somewhat weak IPA. Faint nuttiness, and faint sweetness. Tea-like properties, somewhat drying to the mouth. Something fruity, but can't quite place it--perhaps pineapple?

Looks dark, reddish brown, faint brown head.

Smells faintly bitter and earthy.

As dorisfunkasaurus rightly said, this is really a RED IPA. Not my personal favorite as far reds or IPAs go, but definitely a cut-above. Probably good for parties, no-doubt good for and try and a change.

Looking forward to this one after seeing the overall rating on Beer Advocate about two minutes before writing this. Bought this basically because it’s Marble and I haven’t tried this one yet. Nice to not always have IPAs.

Poured an auburn, clear color with two fingers of frothy, khaki head. Rather serene setting underneath the head. Very good lacing. Excellent retention. (Sight - 4.25)

Very nice on the smell, getting a great mix of malts and hops. Specifically getting caramel, toasted malts, buttery malts (but not overwhelming which I hate), Mosaic, spicy, dry Chinook, rye, iced tea, spoiled vegetables and light garbage. (Smell - 4.00)

Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose, but decent. Getting toasted malts, buttery caramel malts, dry rye hops, Mosaic, spicy Chinook, sweetened iced tea, spoiled green beans, hints of tropical notes, mainly passion fruit, bitter pine and some woody Nugget. (Taste - 3.75)

Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, toasty finish. (Feel - 3.75)

This one had its moments, but couldn’t pull the trigger on higher ratings. Might have underrated the smell a tad. Decent beer though. (Overall - 3.75)

Been a while since I've visited this gem.

Biscuity and caramel-heavy like an ESB but it has a floral, resinous hop kick on the finish that distinguishes it. Pretty full-bodied with a prickly carnonation, that satisfes and makes each sip instantly require another.

It's a good brew and one I really shouldn't neglect.

12 oz bottle. Pours very hazy red amber with finger off white head, decent retention, good lacing. Aroma is mild, sweet malt and a touch of tropical fruit. The taste is really balanced nicely. Caramel malt backbone, but not sweet, there are plenty hops. The hop flavor is a mix of citrus peel, pine and dank earthiness which linger just the right amount. Medium soft mouthfeel. Really enjoyed this hop-forward red ale, wanted another.

Poured into a pint glass. Reddish amber color with a two finger head that recedes slowly and leaves lacing halfway down the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, and floral hops. Taste is a slightly fruity start with a caramel and malt backboned body and a good presence of hops throughout the drink. The hops don't leave a bitter aftertaste, and the beer is well hopped. Medium body with medium carbonation and just a little oiliness from the hops.
This is a beautiful amber that has a balanced malt body and a distinguished but not bitter hop profile. It didn't settle as a hop forward or malt forward, finding a very good place between. Very drinkable and easy to like.

I feel that this beer is mislabeled on Beer Advocate as a amber/red ale when it should really be classified as a Red IPA. Even still, this is an amazing beer and in my top 5 of all time. Great balance of malty and hoppy characteristics. 5/5.
