Pivovar U Bulovky

 

This brewpub broke the mould in Prague. While other brewpubs continue to make flavoured variations on the theme of Pilsner, Pivovar U Bulovky has brought a wide range of styles to the city, all of which are brewed in accordance to Reinheitsgebot.

So far I have drunk the following beers in the pub:

Lager
Schwarzbier
Altbier
Hefeweissen
Brown ale

Each of them has been very good or excellent - the brown ale was particularly memorable.

The staff only speak Czech or German, but they are friendly and very helpful - although when it gets busy it is better to take a trip to the bar and order there.

The atomsphere is very much a Central European beer hall, and that is exactly as it should be - this isn't a place for those who want to be seen to be trendy, it is place for people who love beer.

The decor is wooden panelling, and it is great to be able to drink sat next to the fermentors doing their thing.
