A wild porter. "Bière de ferme" Series. The Kriek Porter is a blend of Pit Caribou's porter (Gaspésienne No. 13) combined with Quebec cherries and a porter aged for a year in pinto noir barrels.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color porter with a nice brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light tart cherry with some light roasted malt and some subtle residual sugar notes makes for an enticing beer. Taste is a mix of light tart cherry notes with some light roasted malt notes and some black chocolate with some residual sugar notes that offset some of the tart notes with light vinous notes. Body is full with oily texture and good carbonation. I am usually not a big fan of tart porter but this one was very well balanced.

Thick pitch black with a rusty almost pink-tinged head. Fluffy two fingers of head settles to a film. The aroma is musty with funky cherry tartness, chocolate, leather, barnyard. The flavor is similar but as it warms more of a malty spiced character comes out. Like a tart chocolate covered cherry, but with mainly cherry. And some horse sweat...It is not really my cup of tea but it was enjoyable and hides its alcohol well. Nice beer. Would have it again.
