From a 500 ml bottle into a nonic pint glass.

Bonne Aventure is a decent session ale. It pours a nice red copper color with a full foamy three finger head that breaks down quickly. The smell is fruity, with a touch of hops. The taste has an unexpected sour or bitterness, and there is little carbonation present. The beer is slick and the finish lingers. I have liked the products from Pit Caribou before, but I am not sure I will revisit this one.

Bottle: Poured a clear medium amber color ale with a average foamy head with OK retention. Aroma of dry grainy malt is OK at best and not that enticing. Taste is dominated by dry malt notes with unrefined grain and no notes of caramel which would have suited the style. Body is average as well as carbonation. This one would fall below average for style.

Amber beer with a head formed of big bubbles. Aroma is thin and light. Light malts notes and a little bit floral. Taste wise, it is malty with a light bitterness at the end. Balanced. Medium body. Carbonation is high in the mouth. This is a session beer. Not bad.

La Bonne Aventure, an amber ale whose malt profile shines through like none else. Rarely have I tasted a beer that really showcases the flavours of malt this well. This is a good beer to have on hand to help develop sensory skills as you can really get the roasty, caramel malt flavours in the aroma and taste.

I scored the beer lower on mouthfeel because the full malt dose in this beer can get a bit heavy but don't get me wrong this was not enough to stop me from having a second one.

I had this beer during a visit to Percé at the breweries pub in town. The beer was as fresh as it gets and really allowed the flavors to shine.

Nice amber/red color but almost no head and no carbonation. Smells really weird. I can't say what it smells like but it doesn't smell like beer at all. The taste is really dry, almost no caramel taste like I'm used to with the style. I almost wonder if I got a bad beer or it's really the taste of the beer. Either way, pretty disappointed with this one I'm a big red ale fan but this is really underwhelming. An overall of 3 is almost too much.

Appearance: Poured with a finger of head that had excellent rention, but sadly did not lace. The body is a cloud deep red, boardering on brown and reveals slow carbonation upon closer inspection. It looks like a beer with some heft to it.

Smell: Dry toffee like malt dominates the nose, closely followed by cherries and nuts in the background. Warming really helps to bring it out more building in intensity and really makes the nuttier aspects come out. Could use more overall intensity though.

Taste: A very conservative but well done brew. Starts with restrained toffee malt with some dry nuttier notes then turns toa more fruity turn as cherry and plum get added into the mix rounding out with a slightly spicy but mainly bitter herbal hop note.

Mouthfeel: Carbonation is solid as it helps out the entire beer, but really puts an creamy emphasis on the end of the beer helping to round it out. The aftertaste tends towards the bitter nut taste, and just stops a bit short of being excessive. All in all solid.

Drinkability: Well it's on the heavier side of medium bodied, that is for sure, and the carbonation seems to get a bit aggressive in the gut. However despite it's dry nut aspects, manages to stay refreshing.

Final Thoughts: All an all, this is a nice fall brew that helps to get you ready for that transistion into winter stout drinking. As I said, it's a fairly conservative amber ale, but hits all the bullet points fairly well. If you want simple and well done, this is your beer and I would glady partake again.

Deep veiled dark amber/copper color with subtle visible activity. Beige 1 finger head lasting around 3 minutes with average legs.

Aromas and flavors of grains, citrus, caramel, fruits, nuts, herbal spices. Well intensified flavors, more of a sweet taste still with some nice hops sharpness. Undertones of roasted nuts with an earthy and grassy feel.

Chalky creamy medium body with moderate carbonation. Smooth balanced finish ending with a pleasantly spicy fruity orange/lemon feel.

Overall : Good craft; refreshing, accessible, balanced, flavorful and not too heavy on the spices.
