Got a to-go growler of this and drinking it on the second day, so a little flat, but I'm taking that into account in my rating here. Very coffee taste as expected, kinda cloying. A good espresso stout but shouldn't be at the "premium" price point of $16 + tax & tip/growler. Definitely not coming back to this at those prices, but will probably continuing exploring this brewery's selection.

Tap @ Junkyard, Nottingham - Pours dark black with a medium tanned foamy head. Nice lacing. Medium carbonation. Aroma - coffee, chocolate, roasted malts. Taste - Sweet, lactose, coffee, dark chocolate notes, light bitter finish. Solid coffee oriented stout. Would drink again.

Split a 22oz bottle, served in a pint glass. Very dark stout, beige head. Slight coffee aroma, general stout aromas. Tastes mildly coffee like, expected a bit more flavor from espresso. Some dark notes of chocolate etc. Overall a very sweet lactose/malt beer. Mouthfeel is the standout, the oatmeal gives it a smooth creamy effect.

Pours a dark chocolate, borderline black with a massive beige head and a beautiful bubble show as it dissipates. If I didn't know any better, I'd have thought I poured a root beer float. Aroma is mild, almost scentless except for a hint of sweetness. Taste is sweet up front, but not over bearing and the coffee shows up at the end, bitter but not over bearing. Mouthfeel is also creamy, this brew does a nice job of replicating an espresso drink, which I assume was probably the goal, considering the name. Nice job on that, you guys nailed it.

Served On-Tap in a 16oz tulip

A — Pours a clear and rather light looking dark brown color into the glass. Quite a bit of light shines through the beer around the edges, very light in body. There is a cappuccino colored head on top initially, but it fades and doesn't leave much of anything behind it.

S — Smell is lightly assertive, and hints at the coffee aspect of the beer, not dominant. Other than that there is a light chocolate sweetness on the nose, but its mostly just dark malts here and a hint of coffee.

T — Very light here as well, drinks much more like a porter than it does a stout, very light notes of coffee and chocolate, not much else.

M — Light in body, high carbonation, quick & thin finish.

O — Disappointed overall, really a light and thin beer that missed the mark.

Poured into snifter.

A: near black, two finger tan caramel head

S: could be stronger, coffee and roast malt, a little sweetness

T: coffee right away. Brazilian and Ethiopian coffee beans were used and the bitterness from the coffee is balanced very nicely with the milk sugars. Sweet cream and caramel flavor but a little too much. Some toffee and chocolate. Lots of dark roast malt. Very tasty.

M: smooth and lingering. Not heavy but there is weight to it. Something that coats your tongue but doesn't make you feel full after half the glass.

Delicious beer and I'll definitely buy it again the next time I see it. I've compared it to Stone Coffee Milk Stout and this is better. I'm surprised by the low ratings.

Lacking flavor, carbonation and mediocre overall. Needs more Jive.

22 ounce bottle into snifter; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours pitch black color with a 2 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, toast, dark bread, oats, light cream, herbal, and roasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and coffee notes with light-moderate earthy hop presence; and solid strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, toast, dark bread, oats, light cream, herbal, floral, and roasted earthiness. Light earthy roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roast, toast, dark bread, oats, light cream, herbal, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and coffee with light-moderate hop presence; with good robustness and zero cloying after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, creamy, and lightly chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good oatmeal coffee stout. All around good balance and robustness of dark/roasted malt, coffee, and light-moderate hop flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A nicely enjoyable offering.
