From tasting notes:
Fresh bottle from Brewery:
Pours a deep cola brown with ruby highlights and a frothy tan cap that lasts and laces.
Lots of roasty cocoa-coffee in the nose as well as grassy kent hopping.
rounded mouth feel, mellow, plenty of dark cocoa-mocha tones, dark fruity esters, tons of roasty malt tones and just enough hop bite to keep the sweetness in tow.
A robust London style porter. Good effort.

500ml bottle from the brewery. Pours a black-brown body with dark ruby hues and a thin ring of tan head. Not much lace. Smell is vanilla and burnt grains, a bit doughy. Weird plastic/fruit aroma that always pops up in RC beers. Flavour is light roasted malt, good hop bitterness, and very subtle smoke. Too simple for my liking, I want more from a porter. Thin, watery mouthfeel has a hint of bitter dryness in the finish. Kinda weak. Really liked the Blonde, Amber, and Dead Elephant Ale, but I'm disappointed with this offering. Come on guys, you can do better!

Opaque black, enjoyed at Bar Volo. Reddish hues, some head and lace. Average mouthfeel, strong seizing of the taste buds, astringent really. Roast aroma, sour finish from what's coffee. Not too chocolate, and that would have helped drinkability. Hits the style, but I could not finish it.

On tap at C'Est What?
Pours a clear light reddish brown, some orange, very light colour for a porter, thin light tan head forms, settles to a thin ring around the glass, few lace spots stick.
Smell is weird, very light, some caramel, a bit nutty, touch of chocolate and some fruit, biscuity, no real roast or porter character to it, very dull.
Taste is worse, smokey sourness, caramel, nuts, a bit of fruit, biscuit, pretty bland and doesn't resemble much of a porter.
Mouthfeel is light bodied with medium to high carbonation, almost no body at all. Pretty poor attempt at the style, many off flavours and almost zero porter character.

This porter pours a deep cola that lets in just a bit of light, creating a ruby hue. The head is a long lived mocha froth that leaves some pretty spotty lace. A predominantly roasty nose has coffee beans, dark chocolate, vanilla extract, wood smoke. It also comes off a bit lactic, which to me is quite acceptable and enjoyable in this style. The flavour profile is all about the bitter roast. Lots of black coffee meets dark chocolate and pit fruit. A bit earthy/woodsy, with a hint of peat. The hops really come at you and create a dry, chalky, astringent mouth feel that screams porter. Quite enjoyable. Nice lenghty bitter roasty finish. This is a great fall/winter beer. One that I will recommend to anyone that enjoys a quality porter.
