Enjoyed this one at Twin Peaks in Greenville, SC while enjoying the sights if you catch my drift. Served from tap into a Twin Peaks tall mug. Poured brown with a half finger off-white head that subsided to a minimal amount slowly. Maintained nice lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, nutty, dark chocolate, and subtle toasted malt. The flavor was of sweet malt, roasted malt, dark chocolate, powdered chocolate, and nutty. It had a light feel on the palate with high carbonation. Overall this was a pretty average brew. The only thing that really actually stood out on this one was all of the chocolate aspects going on in the flavor. While there was quite a bit of this, the powdered version was definitely the dominate factor giving it an artificial sweetness going on. I really wish this would not have been the case as it could have been a decent bit better. I would probably stick to other brews offered at Twin Peaks before having this one again if I’m honest.

Had the new Franconia brew on-tap in McKinney. It poured a very nice chestnut brown and a creamy tan head. The smell has notes of grain, caramel, and nuts. The taste is similar to the smell- roasted malts, caramel, and a definite nutty (sweet) aftertaste. It was much smoother than I anticipated, couldn't decided if it quite worked, but it was easy to drink. Overall, an interesting beer. I've had Red Ales before and this was definitely unique for the style.
