Had this on 2010-05-15 at the Mt Hope Brewfest in PA (from tasting notes)

A - Amber leaning towards red. White head

S - Grain, mild and sweet citrus. A little hop floral.

T - Biscuit, caramel, apple, grapefruit. Moderately bitter, which continues into the drying aftertaste.

M - Light body and medium carbonation.

D - Better than average amber ale but not remarkable. Drinks pretty easy.

Pours a deep amber clouded off white light tan head, with light scattered lacing dwindling. Aroma has a caramel malt base with some mild roasted nuts and herbal hops to balance it out. Flavor wise this was a mild malted tones an even keeled balanced sweetness with hints of earthy and pine cone hops in the background. Mouthfeel is even bodied with easygoing carbonation, overall I felt this one was easy to drain but nothing too complex or outside of the norm.

A- Pours a deep amber/reddish orange color with a two-finger (off-white) head that slowly fades. Has great lacing.

S- A nice combination of toasty/doughy malts mixed with grapefruit, pine, tangerines, and orange marmalade.

T- Starts off with a sweet malt flavor then transitions into a bitter hoppy finish.

M- Medium with good carbonation. Flavors really coat your tongue.

D- A really good Amber that is well balanced and highly drinkable. Keep up the good work Roy Pitz.

A-Deep copper with a thin light tan head that reduced to a thin film and left decent lace.

S-Light roast, a bit of caramel and a light spicy citrus hop kick.

T-Fruity/spicy hop bite with a pleasant semi-sweet caramel malt backbone. Finishes with a fair amount of dryness. A sublte hint of apple/pear in the background, took me more than a pint to pin it down! All in all quite nice.

M-Medium body, fairly crisp and quite smooth. A good amount of lingering bitterness.

D-Quite good, since I wasn't expecting much from this one. I found this brew to be similar to Troeg's Hopback which is certainly not a bad thing! This is a pleasant, easy to drink well made beer. The ABV is a bit high to make it a true session beer but I could put down a few pints of this without complaint! A nice, go to beer. The type a beer geek can enjoy and share with Dad (like I did) or folks that "aren't really into beer."

A- A nice reddish amber pour with a finger of tight off white head which stays around for quite a while.

S- Light Malts, some citrus fruits, a hint of sweetness....maybe cane sugar, and hops.

T- A little malt up front, but quickly turns hoppy. Citrus and a bit of pine, with loads of hoppy flavor. Finish was dry and slightly bitter from the hops.

M- Coated the mouth quite well, but was a bit over carbonated

D- An OK amber, but simply didn't feel balanced enough for me.

Bottle #32

A: Poured from an impressive looking 1L bottle w/ a swing cap on it into a couple of pint glasses. Quite hazy, chestnut brown in color. Forms a big bubbled foamy head that reduces down to a rocky surface coating. Some lacing.

S: Predominantly an earthy/woody character with some bread, caramel malt and yeasty esters.

T: Strong flavor of caramel malt and diacetyl. A mild bitterness. Finishes with earthy malts. Virtually no hop character.

M: Medium in body with a solid malt feel to it. Appropriate carbonation.

D: A drinkable beer, but way too much caramel malt for my likings.

First had: on cask at Yards Brewing Co., Philly, PA, at their 5th Annual Real Ale Fest 2012

Decent brew. Amber-copper color with a thin white head. Aroma of grains, bready malts, floral hops. Basic taste that followed the aroma well: biscuity malts, caramel, decently balanced with floral hops, for a slightly bitter, dry finish. A bit stale, but not too bad. Mouthfeel is on the lighter end of medium, a bit thin, but decently drinkable and generally unoffensive.

On nitro draft, in shaker pint glass

clear, medium amber in color, thick cream colored head. thick lacing from the nitro head. not much aroma, a little caramel. taste is too sweet for me, needs a little more bitterness to balance for me. thin to medium bodied, the feel works.
