NOTE: This is now a Heineken beer. If not brewed by them, they at least distribute it.

Thanks to my roommate for bringing a bottle back from her trip to Romania. The code on the label indicates this beer is good until Feb 09. Poured into a pint glass, it's a very light straw yellow with a white head.

This beer kind of tastes like a pilsner and kind of tastes like an adjunct lager. I guess that just makes it a good adjunct beer. There's only a hint of corn, along dry biscuit malts. The light, quasi-pils taste end with a mild peppery hop note. All in all, not a bad beer. It would stand up to the best American macro lagers, but not the best pilsners.

My son has moved to a new area in London and is now surrounded by Eastern Europeans, I picked up this beer and a few others when visiting the other week.

Half litre green bottle, best before 25 May 2011, drank and reviewed late April 2011. The label claimed 5.4% ABV.

Pale gold in colour, wispy white head and collar: no lacing and what head there was left after ten seconds!

No aroma, gets my regular 3 for a non-smelling pils/lager.

Hops fairly prominent, but not really strong or heavy in any aspect of the beers flavours or taste, you just knew they were there. The drying aftertaste didn't help this beers cause and although it would obviously be refreshing on a hot summers day it didn't flaot my boat in any way at all.

Light yellow, clear body with not much head - just a filmy ring around the edge of the glass. Carbonation is surprisingly low.

The smell is suspiciously good, quite hoppy, fragrant and refreshing. Slight yeasty residual fermentation smell, but overall quite pleasant.

Unfortunately, the taste is nothing like it though. Atrociously bland, like husky water passed through a used grain-bag. No bitterness, and a yeasty dryness at the end. Mouthfeel is very flat, lacks carbonation.

Yeah, whatever the can reckons, this is no pilsener. Just another example of Romanian brewing mediocrity. Don't waste whatever little money this costs to buy.

AndoBrew brought back a shlew of Romanian beers from his recent European excursion. I'm told Romanian beer can be a real special treat. Here's hoping!

Apperance: Pours a clear, light yellow body with a fizzy white head.

Smell: Meager aroma of excessively pale malts and floral hops.

Taste: Altogether bland maltiness with a faint floral hoppiness. Mild bitterness. Slight astringency to the otherwise empty finish.

Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Drinkability: Easy drinking, but only because it essentially tastes like nothing.
