When I first stumbled upon this place during business hours, it was actually closed. I decided to go eat and then come back and see if they would open up again. To my surprise, the store had opened up after a short break.

As I entered the store for the first time I was in awe of how many different beers they had on hand. Also, they had the different beers organized into different categories which made it very easy to find a new brew in the direction you are looking.

The owners wife was running the shop at the time and she was extremely friendly and helpful in finding some new beers to purchase. She guided me through all of the selections they offer and made some really good recommendations.

I am not sure exactly how many beers they have on hand but the sign on the door said 1000. The store was very clean and well organized.

I purchased a 12 pack of different beers that I picked out myself and the prices were very reasonable. Most of the beers were priced in the 2,50 to 4 Euro range.

If you are in the Brussels area and looking to find some different beers to purchase, this is the place to go!

Stopped in during a recent visit to Brussels. To be honest, I accidentally hit this place after the Delirium Cafe. This is one of the better beer shops within the tourist area of Brussels, at least for selection. Yes, the prices are marked up, as are most in the area. The owner was there and we chatted about 3F and beers in general. Really nice and informed. I mentioned a few things, and he said he would try to get them there in a couple of days. I don't mind paying a bit more for some of the harder to find beers when I don't have the time to go searching beyond the city limits.

Now, to the prices. They had Westvleteren, A & G, Hommage, Golden Blend, Horal's Mega Blend, a bunch of de Struisse, and a bunch of Fantome. Of course, they also had the basic Cantillon. The prices for MOST stuff was equivalent to others. However, they had a 750ml of 3F A&G for 40 Euro. The place down the street was selling it for 26 Euro. They had Hommage for 80 Euro, which was WAY over the top. They had some of the harder to find de Cam, but also quite expensive.

I stopped by Beer Planet unexpectedly while walking from the European Quarters back to Grand Place.

Great selection of Belgian beers geared more towards beer aficionados instead of tourists unlike Bier Tempel, but very much like Bier Tempel they unfortunately charge tourist prices for a majority of their beers.

In terms of their selection (the ones that stood out anyway), they had a good selection of Fantôme, a sizable offering from Alvinne, almost all the De Dolle Brouwers', all the Dupont varieties minus the Cuvee Dry-hopping and some of the older Trappist vintages.

Service was very receptive, and there's even a little bar area in the back where you can sample some of the beer that you purchased. I didn't look very closely as I didn't intend on staying too long, but I think they had one or two beers on tap as well.

They also had an extensive collection of Belgian beer paraphernalia, and some spirits on hand as well.

the shop looks nice and all and the selection is ok but the beers they have are so overpriced!

Golden blend 3F: 60€!! You can find this one way cheaper in the bierschuur or other beershops...

Cantillon bottles for 20€!! You go walk 20 min and you are at the brewery...

You pay to much for the beers, it is a tourist shop with way to high prices! It is a small shop and the cashier was not doing her best to convince me, it was like she had a massive hangover....

I visited the shop on 11/4 to buy some beer to ship home to San Francisco. I gave all my information to the man working and he informed me the package would ship 11/5 and take 7-10 maybe 12 days. I still have not heard from them after repeated calls and emails. I hope it shows up but am resorting to thinking about involving outside authorities if I continue to not receive a response or the package. I see others have had this issue. Not very fun but great beer selection.

I am in Brussels (since very short) and decided to start discovering Belgian Beers.

It is no surprise if I tell you I chose BeerPlanet to guide me through this discovery, since they have more than 1000 beers ! The cashier is well informed about his beers and their website is also very pleasant. I often browse it to find the most attractive beers to me, it is like a Belgian beer encyclopedia, once I find the beer that I wanted I go to the shop and hopefully they have it there, sometimes they don't and the cashier propose me to come back in 2 days and tadaaaam the beer I asked is brought there especially for me.

They also have an interesting membership "card", which is in fact a bottle-opener with some identification number, which allows you to have 10€ free beer once you reach 100€!

In short, this shop is THE reference of Belgian beer and its originality is very appreciated every time I visit them (the beer fountain, the big beer bottle at the entrance, the lights of beer bottles, the membership bottle-opener, etc...)

I strongly recommend it,

On June 19th I was in Brussels and paid a visit to Beer Planet. I purchased $276.00 worth of merchandise from this store. The person who assisted us was to send me the DHL tracking # via email, which I have yet to receive. I was told the shipment would take 7-10 business days. All of my emails to Beer Planet have gone unanswered and I suspect I will have to dispute the charges with American Express. I sent a final email asking for the shipping conformation within 24 hours. I am curious if others have had shipping issues with this merchant. The guy working in the store was not the most friendly chap and gave the impression we were more of a bother than customers who were happy to spend money in his store.

To update this matter, I received the merchandise I purchased from Beer Planet today 7/1/14. I received a tracking email on Monday and the post office delivered the package at noon. So to be fair to Beer Planet, I received the products I bought. As to why they did not respond to my initial inquiries I cannot say. The good news is I am happy to have the beer and the glassware I ordered.

If you're looking to get away from other tourists, consider Beer Planet. The interior isn't quite as decorated as de Bier Tempel, however Beer Planet does offer a great selection at fair prices, and you won't have to fight the crowds to get a look at a beer which catches your eye.

The selection is a little more varied by nationality, offers a few more Dutch beers to go with the large selection of Belgians. I saw some Mikkeller here too. Even more surprised when I saw Old Guardian on sale, but at a very high price.

Just a short walk from the Grote Markt and with much less tourist traffic. If judging by beer, I would probably give Beer Planet the nod over Bier Tempel, although here they don't wrap your bottles for your journey back home.

I have been to Brussels several times and have always gone to Bier Tempel to buy some bottles to bring home with me. Last time I went, I sought out this shop as well, based on the recommendation of the "Good Beer Guide to Belgium" book. The shop is a short walk from the Grand Place, but a bit harder to find than Bier Tempel, especially at night.

The shop is clean and modern and feels more open than Bier Tempel, but it is also smaller. This shop consists of only one long room with bottles on the walls. The selection is smaller than Bier Tempel, but I'd say it's a notch above in quality. The emphasis here is on a good sampling of very high quality, special Belgian beers, where Bier Tempel seems to stock a bigger variety of mostly average, everyday brands. Here there were not too many truly rare special editions, but an impressive number of fairly esoteric beers from the more renowned brewers, and few everyday beers to get in the way.

The night I went in there was only one staff member, and he may have been the owner. He was friendly and knowledgeable. When I asked about any beer he was able to immediately point to its exact spot on the shelves. I didn't ask for much help, but I saw him assist an American couple and he was very good at helping them choose new beers based on what they liked. The shop apparently does a lot of shipping to the US, which is what this couple arranged for the case that they picked out. The shopkeeper told me their website has a mail order service available.

Prices were reasonable, considering they are located smack in the middle of Brussels. The bottles they had available were well worth the prices they asked.

Overall a great shop that I'm glad I checked out. If I ever go back to Brussels, I'll browse this one along with Bier Tempel to make sure I see the best of both worlds.

Don't bother with this place, as far as internet orders goes at least. Had been in communication with the person I believe is the owner. Had asked a couple questions on beers that were coming in and shipments to the USA and they were answered promptly. He indicated to me what when I was ready to place the order just feel free to do so. They got a very nice shipment of Cantillon in and I had a full 17 bottle box in my cart. Upon trying to click the USA shipping option that was just there a day ago, I noticed it was gone. I have since emailed about 4 times asking what the problem was, and even if they ship to the US anymore. That was 2 weeks ago and no response at all to any of the emails. I'm not understanding what even happened. Their list has since been updated several times so I know they are getting the inquiries. I had a few friends that were also wanting to place an order and inquired about US shipping and none of their emails were replied to either. Very disappointing that they would let such a large order just be ignored and even stranger that they won't even respond anymore.

Went to Brussels on Sunday to walk around Le Grand Place, and figured I would check out the place. It was small, with rows of beers lining the wall. There was a great variety of beers, mostly Belgian but there was a small selection of Stone and Mikkeller. The beers were priced about what i would expect for a touristy spot but I went ahead and bought 2 bottles for myself anyways: Mikkeller Beer Geeks Breakfast and Drie Fonteinen Oude Kriek Van Schaerbeekse Krieken. The lady running the shop seemed like customers were only there to bother her.

Went to this place on a recent trip to Brussels. They sold me westvleteren 12 even though they say on their website they won't. They have a very good selection of belgian beers, most of which I had not seen in the other 2 shops in and around the grand market in brussels. The owner is nice and helpful. he made some decent recommendations from the list that he has. I would probably buy from them again if i had the chance. This place is right around the corner from the delirium cafe in brussels as well. I would definitely check them out if I visited brussels again.

Good little beer store tucked into the market area of Brussels. As well known for their ability and willingness to supply the US market with Westy's, they have a great selection of beer from Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, etc. This is really where the appreciation ended for me in as far as compared to the other locals. Primary saving graces here for me are that they have a great website. I did not really purchase much here because the owner was very much impressed with himself and I found him a bit crass regarding his willingness to discuss beer (more interested in talking to his friend via skype on the computer). The beers are also a couple euro more here than in other locals.

Upon deciding where to shop for my take home goods, this establishment was last for the potential list.

Not far from Le Grand Place and relatively easy to find the Beer Planet is well worth the time for a visit. They basically only sell beer and have one of the widest selections I found in Brussels.

The displays are organized in a reasonable fashion, with beers grouped by style. I found a few things here that I didn't see anywhere else and so was able to find a few things that don't make it across the Atlantic (or at least don't get into PA).

Each of the times I visited the manager asked if he might be of help. On only one of those occasions did I feel he was being a bit pushy but it turned out he was also just trying to call my attention to a hard to find beer from a brewery about which I'd asked a question. On another occasion I made a specific request for a beer I didn't see and he spent about 5-10 minutes locating it in one of his cases of unshelved stock.

The prices were about what I expected in an area of shops targeted for tourists, but nothing seemed way out of line and I even spotted a few things that were less expensive that one or two other places.

Basically if you want to shop for quality Belgian beers this is one of the places you should not miss. Indeed if you have the time to only visit one place this is definitely one to consider.

Now the review of this place is based on an American in a Belgian beer store. I was like a kid in a candy store!!!! Now to the average Belgian, it was probably not all that impressive, but to me, I could and did spend a lot of money in here. As I walked in I see Black Albert and Black Damnation along with vintage Cantillon with all their regular beers. Now I know Cantillon is down the road and buying them here would be dumb because they are more than double than the brewery, but much less than here in the states. I could spend 100 euro and walk out with a Westy 12, but did not know that until my second trip in and did not want to spend that much more. Awesome place, check it out.

Surprisingly my first review of this store. The location can't be beat, just 1 minute from the Grote Markt, exactly where a tourist is likely to be while in Brussels. The prices are somewhat high, at least by my estimation, compared with non-tourist areas, but not high enough to discourage some purchases.

Great selection, many beers that I saw no where else. The guy running the shop (maybe the owner?) was kind of pushy with his help, but I guess he gets a lot of tourists browsing with no idea what to get. Still, I thought I gave him enough nuggets of knowledge that he'd leave me alone but he still insisted on pimping beers that I know I can already get in the USA. No worries, I can study the selection on my own.

Definitely worth a stop, maybe the best place in the city (that I know of) to get de Struise, also some good lambics and gueuze.

I ordered 6 beers from www.Beerplanet.eu. Good prices, fast service, helpful staff. I spoke with the owner who helped me with my selection of 5. I felt that his understanding of my tastes after just a few minutes of speaking were very good. The selection not only includes hundreds of beers, but they are of multiple vintages.

I asked him throw in an un-named "wildcard" beer for the last beer, and to my surprise, upon receiving it, I got a Westy 12! His policy for Westvletern beer is actually respectful of the Monk's wishes. He does not sell the beer, but includes them as a "bonus"

Thanks Aram!

Stumbled into this place to find directions. There were two guys working behind the counter, and they both were very friendly, engaging us from the time we entered the store without ever becoming smothering. They were definitely knowledgeable and there to help.

Their beer was almost exclusively high-quality Belgian artisanal beer, and their selection was fantastic. It was all organized by similar style, which made shopping a joy. They also prominently featured some very rare items such as Rodenbach Vintage 2007, that I did not see in any other bottle shops in Belgium.

They also seem to have this deal where you spend 100 Euros in the store and they'll give you a free bottle of Westvleteren 12. I think this is a fabulous idea that still seems to respect the wishes of Sint Sixtus (they are not reselling the Westvleteren).

The prices were a little steep compared to other bottle shops in Belgium, but against other shops in Brussels, they were on-par with price. Definitely worth going here to seek out some of those rare gems.

He sells the basics belgium., the classics and some more less known beer.

I went here today for the first time. It is just outside the main tourist area, which one can notice immediately because the shop is much less crowded than the bier tempel. The shop is a bit narrow, with large cupboards full of beers on both sides of the shop. The selection covers almost all Belgium beers available, more than in the bier tempel. They have definitively some rare beauties here (limited brews), very local brews and also some very new struise brews. I also noticed there are a few vintage bottles, but not a whole selection like in beermania. Service is friendly, although at first sight the person didn't look very interested in helping out. But after some questions he became more and more helpful. No wesrvleteren here, although they have an action if one spends 100 euro (150 dollars), you get a bottle for free....well, for the westvleteren, one can just go to bier tempel! I noticed this shop is quite a bit cheaper than the bier tempel. Highly recommendable!
