On tap at the Falls Church location.

Pours a clear copper with a finger of brite-white head. Thin creamy retention that bunches up around the edges and skims the middle, leaving some decent lacing behind. The aroma (try as I might) just doesn't have much going on. Some light caramel notes, floral hops, and a touch of citrus. Pretty sad smelling.

The taste at least has a little more going on it with it. Carmamel malts, light bread, splash of citrus with some underlying hops, and maybe a touch of spice in there. The mouthfeel is lightish in feel with a fairly poppy carbonation but a little too much of a watery texture going on.

An average Oktoberfest at best, there just wasn't a whole lot to get excited about here but I will give it credit for going down extremely easy.

I had this on-tap at the Sweetwater in Merrifield.

A: Poured a fairly dark orange color, with a slight chill haze, and half finger head or so. Looks very much like the Sam Adams.

S: VERY metallic, and that quality sustained itself throughout the session unfortunately. Sure, the bread was there, but it didn't smell fresh or inviting.

T: Yep, the rust was alive and well in this one. Slightly sweet, slightly bitter, but who cares?

M: It was cold and wet, I didn't care about the spritz from the carbonation, bitterness, or anything mouthfeel related after the unsavory taste.

O: One of the worst Octoberfests I've ever had. I will not repeat.

Had a pint at the restaurant and took a growler home. Poured an amber hue with a slightly creamy white head.

The smell was light with a bit of hops and a slight malt sweetness. The taste had a regular malt body and simultaenous light/medium hop flavor. These both faded into an aftertaste dominated by malt flavor and a bit of hop astringency. The carbonation was medium and the consistency was medium as well.

Not a bad Oktoberfest, but not the best I've had either. A decent brew nonetheless and worth a try.
