340ml bottle bought from GapWines, Belfast...

Poured a hazy light coppery colour with a lot of yeasty floaties. White head poured big, foamy and meringue like and a lot of small carbonation bubbles maintained a decent coating throughout... some good patchy lacing...

Aroma - Quite a lot of juicy and spicy fruits (grapefruits, pears, apricots), light biscuity malts, strong grassy and citrusy hops, wet hay notes, light caramel sweetness, some tarragon herbal traces, sea salt, light vegetal notes, some sweet graininess...

Taste - Quite a lot of grassy and peppery hop bitterness, tart fruits (grapefruits, sour apples, lemons), pear drops, very little sweetness - just a little floral honey, salty, light anise, light burnt caramel hints, some overcooked veg notes, chalky traces...

Feel - Pretty sharp and dry... light bodied... pretty refreshing and quaffable although at 5.7% maybe just a little strong for a session brew...

Overall - A decent enough pale ale - nothing mind blowing but pretty damn drinkable... definitely worth a try...

550ml bottle purchased at Gateway in Durban, RSA

A- Cloudy straw color, bubbly, pours with a thin white head, light lacing on the side of the glass.

S- Smell of hops, citrus and grain.

T- Up-front taste of hops and candied sugars with champagne like notes. Mild taste of alcohol and a mild to strong after taste from the yeast.

M- Light to medium bodied with a relatively smooth finish. Felt a bit sticky and seemed to leave a coating in my mouth.

0- Drinkable but ultimately mediocre pale ale. I'm not sure the bottle conditioning improves this beer. More complex than a traditional pale ale but not necessarily better. Certainly worth trying though if you're in the craft beer wasteland that is South Africa, easily outclasses any of the SAB macro brews.

I do sincerely hope that this bottle (green) was skunked and that it doesn t normally taste like skunked beer,

The colour and appearance was true to a pale ale as was the smell but the taste - yuck!!!

It definitely taste off which seriously inhibted the otherwise potentially good drinkability of this beer.

I ve had this taste before in a hopefully skunked Belgian IPA
