Usually has a solid crowd of locals here, as well as first timers. Friendly staff to all and better once they get to know you and you have visited a few times. Good selection of bottle beers and always decent selection off of 16 taps. Does tap take overs every month, sometimes more than once. Food is very good, and has changed some recently. Pizzas are hand made flatbread style, very good.

Overall nice place.

This place always has great beers on tap, 16 rotating. Recent examples: Hellhound, Beer Geek Breakfast, Alchemy Hour, Narwal, and Espresso Yeti to name a few. If you find yourself in Charlotte, looking for a great draft list, this is your place.

Price gouging at its finest.
I went to purchase a 4-pack, assuming it would be $9.99 -$10.99, it rang up at $16.99.
Bombers are consistently marked up around $3 on average.

Bottom Line:
Get your draft here, and your bottles elsewhere.

I've been to Vintner's a few times, and overall, I've had a good time. It's more of a wine bar, but they have a pretty nice selection of bottled craft beer. They have a bout 10 things on tap. A lot of it is local brews.

They have a cooler with some brews, and they do charge a 'corking' fee if you drink there. That's why I try and get a bomber to make it worth the upcharge. That's a bit bothersome, but I guess they are trying to remain competitive.

My wife likes the wine selection, so it makes it easier to get her to go!

Overall, if you want a change of pace on a Friday night, drop by with the spouse and tilt a few.

This is both a beer and food review. This place is nestled in the arboretum shopping center next to the Tinder Box (cigars). Vintner Wine Market offers a wide variety of bottled beers (guessing 250 to 300 different beers),16 rotating taps (all craft beer( (a core 4 , local 4, and 8 rotating miscellaneous brews), and a large wine selection. On many occasions you will find a rare or hard to find beer on the draft list. I have become a regular there and really enjoy the atmosphere, great staff, regulars, and occasional live music Thursday to Saturday. The food is great and all locally sourced. Here is a few of my "must haves" the pimento cheese plate, chicken pesto pizza, and the sandwich that gets my vote for best in Charlotte is the grilled cheese beer braised short rib sandwich with au jus or spicy mustard. This is a great place to visit and you will always find help and reviews from the regulars with the draft list or a free sample from the wonderful staff. Cheers!

I've visited here 4 times now. The first time to check out the bottle selection and the other 3 times with friends.

For bottle selection they do good for a wine shop but not what I would consider amazing for a beer store. They have what I'd expect from a place that would attract craft beer lovers. Nothing too out of the ordinary that you couldn't find at Brawley's or Total Wine.

For draft selection it has been hit or miss. One time there was hardly anything on that I was interested in and the other two times there have been a few beers I wanted to try. Unfortunately what was listed on the website didn't live up to what was actually there on all my trips. Maybe the good drafts go fast and they just don't update their site often but I've been disappointed by them not having what was listed on their site every time I went. Still they do have some good drafts. Also they seem to offer pretty small pours that are heavy on head/

Not a big fan of the atmosphere however. While you can go here and have drinks with your friends they don't have the best seating and it doesn't seem like the kind of place you'd want to spend all night at.

Service was pretty basic and probably not as good as most places that are really into craft beer. One time when I stopped in during the middle of the day when there were no customers present I was greeted and that was it, the other times they have taken my order but that's it. Sure they did there job but it isn't anything I'd rave about.

Overall a solid location worth stopping at but nothing mindblowing.

This "Wine Market" has a fantastic selection of beer and wine. It has many of the harder to find beers that come to Charlotte, such as limited releases and foreign beers. Their prices are a little bit higher then many other places in Charlotte but their selection can't be beat. They have close to 12 drafts at a time and they are always good choices. The main problems I have with Vintner's is that you cant walk in and buy a six pack of beer, as they only have singles, and a lot of their IPA's are out of date. In September I found a Titan IPA from GDBC that was bottled in February. Those are its only downfalls.

Although I've lived in Charlotte for nearly my entire life, I've only just recently begun to frequent this place thanks to a tip from a family friend. I'm not much of a wino, so I rarely stray from the back-right location of the store on my visits, where copious amounts of delicious and rare beers abound.

The prices are...well, a little pricey. It doesn't help that all of the beers are only sold as singles. And it'd be nice if there were some paper six-pack holders available so I could carry around the beers as I shopped instead of having to sit them on a table and awkwardly tote them all up to the register at the culmination of my spree.

Okay, that's the END of my bashing, because this place truly is spectacular. Selection-wise, I think this place gives Brawley's a run for its money. And it's a helluva lot closer to my house. The best aspect of this store, and where it goes above and beyond most beerstores, is the spectacular tap selection. Each tap in Vintner's selection of sixteen is an eclectic brew, and almost each is delicious. Every time I amble in, I head to the back to see what tasty concoctions are currently swimming through the lines. Tonight, for instance, I enjoyed a 3 French Hens before moving on to an Olde School Barleywine. I was feeling fine, indeed.

I haven't actually enjoyed any food at Vintner, mostly because I didn't know it was available. Some guys tonight were having a wine tasting though and ordered a spectacular cheese and fruit platter. Next time, I plan on following suit when I'm with some buddies.

As a store, Vintner's rivaled by almost none in the Charlotte area. As a bar, only Duckworth's outweighs it, and I'd probably argue that Vintner's taplist is more eclectic. The bartender, Jeremy, knew his shit, and because of the fact that the ambiance was extremely low-key, he was available to just talk beer. I like that.

Sweet spot. Can't wait until my next visit.

Awesome beer selection and ditto the wine and food. Being a beer nerd I love the 16 beer taps, rarely I go to Vintner and have a hard time choosing taps. Jeremy and Co. does a great job rotating taps and the bottle selection is also awesome. The beer club is a great deal and as stated the beer selection is awesome.

Living in Union Co I'm THRILLED to have a "local" place to get great beer...while it's not a short drive from Union Co it's worth it.

Keep up the great work guys/gals!!

Stopped into this location as they were having a firkin of Heavy Seas Peg Leg there. The location is located in what I would describe as a LARGE strip mall. This made it quite hard for me to find, but it was easily spotted by driving around the store fronts until you saw it with large white letters over the storefront. Parking is not an issue being in the strip mall setting with parking everywhere. Upon walking in, I was immediately greeted by the staff who already knew I was there for the firkin. While waiting for them to tap the firkin I walked around and did a little window shopping on some of their brews. There were A LOT more wines than beers, but then again it is a 'wine market' afterall. But the brews that they do have were of pretty good quality. After doing a little looking around I took a seat at their bar area to watch the Panthers game and wait for the firkin to be tapped. Their tap list is quite impressive as well with a few limited brews available which I helped myself to prior. Really nice place to visit or hang out as all of the people who were there besides me were regulars and they all made me feel welcome. I will definitely be visiting again next time I'm in the area.

I have heard good things about this place so I figured that I would check it out for myself.

Located in a strip center, it is easy to overlook with all of the other nondescript shops. The place has a small European boutique feel. More focused on wine than beer, they still have a very respectable beer selection. The atmosphere is laid back and comfortable. All of the beer is priced as singles, with the prices clearly marked, which is a huge plus. The selction is quite extensive, if fact it may be as good as Brawleys in that aspect. I think the biggest draw is the bar with around 16 taps, all of them devoted to craft. The draft prices are fairly reasonable, but the bottle prices seem a little high.

Overall, this is a terrific place to come have a couple of beers and buy a hard to find bottle or two. I think Brawleys may still have the edge for my normal everyday purchases, but this is a nice place to have a beer while shopping.

Good: awesome store and a great selection of beer. Nice cheeses for sale and a decent food small meal menu. Like 20 taps of really good stuff. No sam adams or SN, mostly very BA friendly stuff. I had a Mikkleller beer geek breafast for $7. not bad most prices were normal.

Bad: more focused on wine then beer but still a good beer selection. Not a full menu of food, but it'sore of a store then a resturant. a little far out of the center of charlotte.

Overall: this is a great place and is a god place to visit if you have multi days in Charlotte.

I stopped in while visiting Charlotte based on the BA reviews. I had a Saison Dupont and a Bruery White Orchard on tap. I also looked around for something to take home. I like a lot of what they're doing but walked away with mixed feelings.

On the positive side, it's clean and attractive with great displays and a nice bar area. The beer that they have is top notch in quality and selection. In fact, everything is high end including the beer, wine and cheese.

On the negative side, I found it very pricy for the take home purchases (the tap prices were reasonable). And I found the pours to have more head than I'd prefer. It looks nice but I think they shortchange you a bit on the beer. I also found the beer selection to be poorly organized and the single only approach (i.e. no six packs) limiting.

If I were in the area, I'd probably use them for hard to find brews and enjoying the occasional beer on tap but it wouldn't be a regular for me.

Had to throw up an updated review as they have doubled their taps. Rocking 16 (all craft) now. Focus is on high grav with Belgians, Imperials always featured prominently. Jeremy (manager) gets craft beer and always puts up an eclectic and out of the ordinary lineup of taps. His personality is for sh&%t but you can't have it all (kidding, I know he will see this). They rotate quite often and the beer club list is a great motivator to step outside your usuals and try new things. They have an extensive selection of wine and beer singles and the staff is always available to help with your selection. They have expanded their menu to include a nice offering of specialty sandwiches and cheeses (think what you might see at a Parisian brasserie) and the chef (Grant) really puts a lot of thought and originality into his food. The best part about this place is the vibe. Envision a Cheers for beer/wine geeks with a bit of a European pub/brasserie feel to it. Most people are regulars who know each other and if you are new you are brought into the conversation straight away. Live entertainment on most weekends.

My 200th Beerfly review! Woo Hoo!!

I picked a good one too. I was in the area this store is located in because I have two accounts very near here. This place is not really hidden but is located amongst throngs of other shops that are not uniquely distinguishable. After finding the place, I sauntered in and was very surprised with the findings.

The guy working the counter greeted my but didnt do much else. Not terrible service but I am sure he would have helped if approached with a query. The shop was mostly focused on wine but the beer was located in the back left. The ambiance was a bit rustic and European in nature and was quite quaint.

The selection was phenomenal. I dare say it might be a bit more eclectic than Brawleys. One thing I really really like here is the availability of singles. This place has all beers priced in singles. I would assume a discount would be given for purchases of six packs but I didnt ask. Everything available under the sun seemed to be available here.

There were 8 drafts available for consumption on premises. These drafts included Bashah, DFH 90min, A belgian quad of some sort, and four other stellar offerings.

Aside from the service (not that the service was bad or completely lacking), this may be THE place to go in Charlotte for single beer purchases. Mike still has the customer service covered but the selection here seems to be the best in Charlotte. Highly recommended.

finally made it into vintner - its location in the arboretum is only about 10 minutes from my homestead. buried in a quasi-upscale stripmall (on one hand you have wine markets, cigar stores, and birkenstock outlets and on the other you sprawl mart)

decent sized joint - meaning its about 4 times the size of brawleys but still small

a few walls of wine, a few more walls of beer and a few coolers mixed. also a back room of hidden goodies and a wine cellar.

theres lots of beer - all in single-bottle format, at a slight premium.

the kicker with this place is that there are 8 taps, and they are all pretty awesome. our stop this afternoon yielded a bells/de proef collaboration, bells sparkling, bells java, duck rabbit baltic porter, some porter from finland that was real nice, la chouffe, st bernardus xmas, etc

so you can fill up on one of those and browse bottles from many heavy hitters - tons of belgians, high end terrapin, high end great divide (15th anniv, espresso yeti), stone, bells, founders (double trouble, backwoods, breakfast stout, imperial stout, etc).

for a stock-up destination, brawleys is 2nd to none in this area, and perhaps 2nd only to bruisin ales (maybe) in the state. but vintner brings a whole other element to the table - drinkin while browsin

Recently made it back to Vintner and was very impressed with the current bottle selection. Got a Terrapin Side Project, a couple Dogfish, and Lagunitis. Jeremy had four great draft options, and was able to spend some time talking beer with me while I enjoyed a pint.

Vintner would be a great place for folks to visit who want to learn more about craft beers. Also good for those of us already hooked to try special, small-batch releases. A very professional, but laid-back retail store. Definitely an under-rated part of Charlotte's beer community!

Stopped in after getting some cigars next door at Tinder Box (Arboretum) . Browsed their great bottled beer selection and was offered insight from Jeremy. Apparently Jeremy is BIG into beer, even brews his own beer. After picking out some faves and some suggestions from Jeremy, sat down at the bar and enjoyed a Bell's Hopslam on draft. 4 draft selections, all very nice. Neat little place, they have food available (which is nice when you're having a high-gravity beer like I was). They do regular beer tastings. I will definitely be back for those.

Overall, a great beer selection, awesome service, and a break from the normal "chain-store" where nobody knows beer!

Thanks Jeremy!

Store is good, selection and service. Some prices not sure about, but most are reasonable. I'm sure this location is not a cheap lease, so I'm sure they're trying to get some of the cost back for the overhead of being able to drink and eat there. However, I would recommend to anyone to check this place out. Better than Total Wine, not quite as good as Brawleys, but close. Each place seems to have a few the other doesn't. Definetely better to buy and bring home to avoid the "corking" fee. Staff has been very knowledgeable and friendly.

This joint is a fun little spot. They have a decent selection of craft beers all of which are in bottles. As the name suggests they are first a wine place and second beer. That being said someone here enjoys a good brew... or at least knows there is some cross over from the wine crowd. You can definitely find something here to suit your tastes. Prices are a little above normal. You have to buy the beverages and then pay a corkage fee to drink it there. I'm not really into that but it was a fun place to just kick back and enjoy the company I was with. The live jazz music didn't hurt either.... I would try to come on a night with the live music. Its a quaint spot without a whole lot of space... on the right evening it would be a great spot to take a date. They also offer light hor' dourves for those looking for a snack. Service was very good as well as knowledgeable. Everything was served in the appropriate glassware. Not the kind of spot to be a regular hangout but the occasional visit is worth it.
