Into a stange glass it pours bright straw gold, with a fluffy cap of white foam that rises above the rim in a convex dome. Slow rising carb trails. Some spotty lace in the glass, and a thin skim across the surface. Delicate arcs of lace.

Aroma is lightly sweet with pilsner malt, soft lemony hop impression, mildly grassy and sulfuric when swirled.

Lightly bitter and grassy, minerals, crisp and dry in the finish with some soda cracker flavors lingering. Pretty snappy and refreshing, quaffable. Clean with no off flavors. Something you can have a few of when it's hot out. Seems like a pre-prohibition revival style, brought into the 21st century with a light hop character. Simplicity is underrated these days... Drink fresh or forget it. If you're reviewing it out of season, chances are it's too old. 6pk Bottles - February - July. I'll continue to buy this when in season.

Pours a clear, straw color. 1/3 inch head of a white color. Decent retention and decent lacing. Smells of pale malt, sight sweet malt, hint of hop, and a hint of yeast. Fits the style of a Czech Pilsener. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of pale malt, sight sweet malt, slight piney hop, and a hint of yeast. Overall, the best of the three Potosi's Ii had, by far.

Pours a clear yellow golden color with white head. Cereal grain and grass on the nose; follows onto the palate. Light bodied and crisp. Finishes with more grain, grass, crisp and clean. Nice easy drinking pilsener.

Not bad, not great. With an aggressive pour there was a small to medium sized white heead that soon disappears and no lace. Color is a clear yellow gold with a few bubble trails. Aroma is going in the direction of the Czech Pils- malt, grain, grass, hop. Flavor has gone a little too far in the butter diacetyl direction, plus the nose qualities. Body is ok and carbonation is just a touch soft. Finish is like flavor and of short to medium length and a bit of sweetness in there too, that is nicely balanced with the tang. Servicable.

From the website:

"Steve Zuidema has just finished a great new beer, Potosi Pilsener, now on tap at the Potosi Brewery. Steve is excited with his new brew and is confident that it will be well received by our customers. The Potosi Pilsener is a very light bodied German Style Pilsener with distinctive malt flavors. We think it's a hit and we know you will too. Come on down to the Potosi Brewery and get a frosty pint of our new Potosi Pilsner."

Well that's not very helpful. But notice how they spell Pilsener the right way once and then the wrong (American) way near the end. Oddly enough, that's little typo more or less sums up this beer. It's a bizarre cross between a modern European pils, with crisp weediness and aggressive, dry hops, and an American macro pils, with adjunctiness and lots of grainy sweetness.

This, my friends, is an old-school American pils. That is, a combination between the two contemporary varieties of pilsen(e)r.

Pours filtered sparkling gold with a solid white head.

Smells of dry hops and pleasant adjunct weedy sweetness. Crisp and exceptionally well balanced.

Tastes like it smells--a great blend of styles, exceptionally well balanced and loaded with flavor in spite of being light and drinkable.

12 oz screw-top bottle poured into a pilsner glass.
6% ABV, "All profits to charity" Cool!

A - The tall pour gave it a chance to get ahead...heh heh. Anyway, the white foam, two-fingers tall, lowered pretty quickly leaving little lace above the crystal clear, low carbonated golden brew.

S - Authentic from the first whiff, this pils is filled with the style-iconic malts as well as a hard mineral water aroma. Mild noble hops add a hint of presence and straw finishes it out.

T - Sweet pils malts are big in flavor here. Bready, toast, full with a low hop balance. Sure, the noble hops are there but remove little attention from the malt until half-way through. It picks up a bit and more noble, floral, grassy presence comes forwards. Class hard mineral water finish.

M - Fuller than I expected, it's a medium-bodied pilsener with a crisp, well-carbonated finish and lingering hard mineral presence.

O - Overall, it's a good pils with pretty good drinkability! It'll satisfy the seasoned beer geek with the classic flavor, provide refreshment, and substitute as a BMC in non-craft drinkers swill-loving hands.

Clear pale golden with a rise of white suds that fades rather quickly, leaving spotty lace. Visible cyclones of carbonation are steady, not fizzy nor short-lived.
Dry, grassy, herbal aroma, milkweed and hay, with a twist of lemon- or at least lemongrass. A backing cracker-like malt base keeps thing dry but adds offset.
Crispy saltine maltiness as it hits the tongue. It toys with a lemon fruitiness as the hops grab hold. It then goes all prairie field: full of dry stalks of grass, pulpy weeds, and interspersed flowers. It ends with the hops lingering amid a forward mineral note.
Bitterness is moderately high, but the taut carbonation and body propel this down the throat. This strikes a crucial balance of real refreshment and flavor complexity, just as a great Pilsener should...which this absolutely is.

I was in the mood for a good pilsner and like Potosi beers so why not pick-up a six pack?

Poured into a pint glass the beer is a nice gold with a slight chill haze. It has a decent, dense white sticky head.

The nose is of grains and a bit of floral and herbal notes.

The beer is balanced between some semi-sweet graininess and some pepper and floral notes from the hops. There is a bit of mineral taste which was a nice touch.

The mouth is medium with crisp carbonation.

It hit the spot and would be very easy to pair with a Wisconsin fish fry!
