Dark copper but clear for an Belgian abbey ale. Head is unexceptional and dissipates quickly. Aroma is also on the faint side for the style.

Taste, however, is pretty good, Malt presents nicely on the palate with a rich, lingering finish. Mouthfeel is velvety with obvious alcohol.

Overall it's a pleasant ale but not up to the limited-edition standards set by other domestic craft brewers.

A: Reddish brown almost opaque color. Two finger head

S: Chocolate caramel odor. Light and not overpowering.

T: Goes down easily. Really kicks you with the malty aftertaste.

M: Thick and malty. Leaves a weight on the back of your tongue.

O: I grabbed this beer on a whim, seeing that it was a limited edition and I'm glad I did. A great beer for the fall or winter.

This one is in regular rotation, now. Had it on draft at the brewery.

Pours dark and medium effervescent--could easily be mistaken for an American amber. Doesn't have the aggressive bubbliness or tight head of most authentic Belgian dubbles.

Smells like a very sweet amber ale. Medium nodes of alcohol against ripe fruit and the faintest hint of Belgian yeast.

Tastes like it smells--very sweet and fruity front end moving into a somewhat dryer middle and a lightly yeasty finish. Quite solid--the sweetness never gets cloying or too intense--but not exactly what I'm looking for when I reach for a dubbel.
