Took some serious effort to track this place down while in the Stony Brook area before a movie. A sign outside read "Largest Beer Selection on Long Island", or something to that effect. That couldn't have been more of a lie...

One large shelf displaying brews on each side, a mini walk in fridge and a modest growler bar is what this place had to offer. This wouldn't be much to complain about, if most of the spaces weren't empty. I walked around for probably fifteen minutes or so, just trying to find something to justify the out of the way trip I had just made. In the end, I talked myself into a six pack of Racer 5 IPA, something readily available in other places. I ended up paying $17 for a sixer and a coke!

Although there were a couple hard to find bottles, such as Blushing Monk and Super Kitty on the shelf, I can't imagine and didn't even bother to ask what they were charging. Overall, I have no idea how this place stays in business; I'll stick with Bellport Beer and Superstar Beverage.

This is a really solid craft place. The selection can vary at times, but the owner is friendly and really knows his stuff. This is the first place I started buying my DFH and is the closest to my house. The owner has given me the 750 bottles to sample. Very cool. All he asked was for a review of ehat he had given me. The only issue and it may be of no fault of the place is that many west coast breweries are not represented. Russian River for one. Anyway, you can't have it all. The bottom line is that this is the place I go and it's worth a shot. They always have a solid growler selection too.

Stony Brook Beverage on rt 25a is a little gem of a store I discovered years ago. I love going to this store to buy my beer. They have a great selection and the store is very clean and welcoming. I went in during a beer tasting and walked out with a few stickers and pint glasses, which was great. I think they have a great selection of foreign and domestic beers.

The staff was great and carried my purchases to my car for me. The growler bar is fantastic and the great staff keeps me coming back time and time again!

This establishment has excellent beer choices, featuring current releases. The growler bar is substantial, with several difficult to find and limited brews. The owner/manager is very knowledgeable and helpful as well.

Domestic craft beers from all regions of the USA are featured. I own a package store (beer, wine, liquor) in CT. My selection is extensive but I enjoy shopping here because many brands are available that cannot be found in CT.

Many Belgian beers and other imports can be found here. A large walkin cooler is well stocked and user friendly.

When in Stony Brook, this establishment is a "must stop" experience.

This is my go to place since its the closest to me that I'm aware of. They have a good selection of Long Island beers (they seem to carry everything by Blue Point and Southhampton Publick House) and typically have a good selection of Dogfish, Smuttynose, etc. I'm not the biggest fan of the teenagers who work there but the owner is very nice and is very knowledgeable about craft beer. They also now have a growler bar but I haven't given it a go yet. This is typically the first place I go to when I have cash to drop on beer. I just wish that they had a "build your own six pack" section.

I really like this place. I drive by it daily on my way to work and home and it will draw me in every once in awhile when I desire something I won't be able to find anywhere else in the area.

It is not a huge place, but they have a good selection of micros and foreign beers. The best selection in the Three Village area by far. They also have tastings I hear, but I have not been fortunate enough to stop by during one.

If you are in the area, this is definitely a great place to go to find some beers you won't find at your normal beer stores. It won't be cheap, but then again, when you are the only one who carries something...

Great place.

Update

Still like this place and can't help but stop by since it is right on my way home.

Now that I have found St. James Beverage I do tend to go there more. They have a better selection of Belgians, which I like quite a bit. I think St. James also has just a better overall selection in addition to taps for growler fills.
