Green bottle. Very pale, nearing white, with very sticky white lace and good retention. Aromatic with Noble hops, grassy and earthy, yet also fairly fruity brightness. Flavor is nice, dominated by grassy and floral hops, quite beautiful at first, but the finish brings a lot of earthy hops and is a bit astringent with an overly dry finish.

I'm going to give this one the benefit of the doubt, since it honestly does bring more to the table than the vast majority of German pilseners. However, if more of these hops went into the aroma instead of the 100 IBUs, we would have a real winner here. The 100 IBU claim is a gimmicky namesake. Light body, moderate to higher carbonation, which is nice, though the dry/astringent bittering hurts it. Definitely an interesting beer for beer geeks to try, and I hope to see more "non-traditional" and experimental brews coming out of Germany. I'd like to have more of these to share/drink.

Pours a very pale yellow with a thick creamy white head that fades slowly leaving almost solid lacing around the glass. Lots of carbonation.

No strong smell to speak of. Faint hint of grass, hay maybe.

Taste is mostly dominated by a clove, floral hop bitterness. There is also some bready biscuit notes. A little caramel towards the end. Finish is dry and soapy.

Aftertaste is floral and slightly soapy, it lingers for a good bit.
Kind of feels like your chewing on a hop cone. Certainly a good pils, probably the only pils you will find with this much bitterness.
The great thing about this beer is it's only 5% abv. which means you can sit down throw back three or four satisfying that hop fix and not be knee walking.

Had this guy while in Berlin- really clear normal pilsner look with a huuuuge foamy soapy white head. When I see what I perceive as soap bubbles I start to get a little skeptical because I just think of the artificial heads on like.. Miller Lite but I think this is the real deal. When you taste it you're tempted to relate it to an American IPA but it's definitely not what they had in mind. They did a good job of really making this "bitter pils"- maintaining the crisp mild pils taste with a abnormal use of bittering hops.

Not your typical German Pils, but a 100 IBU "Bitterpils". This beer poured a clear, light golden yellow color with tall, creamy, white foam that persisted. The aroma had some bready malt notes, but was dominated by aromatic, bitter hops. The taste was quite hoppy (bitter) with some aromatic hop flavors mixed in, and some lager malt buried beneath. Overall a nice flavor. The mouthfeel was very dry and very hoppy with medium-light body and good carbonation feel. The hops persisted in the finish. This was a good beer. An interesting experiment in hopping! (Thanks to Nick B. for this bottle.)
