Gold in color with a fingernail of eggshell white on top. Moderate lacing. I smell fain German bittering hops and that unusual well water aroma more typical of Czech style pilsner. The taste is of the Czech pilsner well water yeast and cardboard. The mouth is very thin and watery.

This was one of our go-to beers in Albania, a surprisingly good, characterful pale lager. Compared to Tirana, it is slightly more pale, slightly less malty and slightly more crisp and leaning to the more hoppy overall, partly due to the lower maltiness.

Pale gold, it has a small white head soon thinning to a thin ring and wisps.
Aroma is grassy, a bit herbal, light - my wife's description: "smells like Coors"
Taste is very good on the lean, minerally side with lighter malty sweetness but crisp, zesty hop bitterness, slightly herbal. My wife's description: despite the aroma it doesn't taste like Coors.

L: Clear golden color, medium carbonation, one finger white head.

S: Nothing worth mentioning, it's a blonde pils...

T: Was actually surprised by this one. Nice and smooth taste. Very drinkable.

F: Feels smooth on the palate, nice carbonation, goes down like spring water.

O: The best Albanian beer, according to locals, and I would probably have to agree.

Draft pour in Albania

Clear light golden body with a well retaining fluffy white cap.

Doughy breadiness along with a slight grassy and herbal hop character. Those flavors hang around in the aftertaste.

Ample scrubby carbonation makes it feel light.

Pretty nice mass pale lager styled beer.

Out of a few Albanian beers I have tried, Korca is probably the best among them.
Pours a clear golden color, topped with about two fingers of white head.
The aroma is usual malty smell complemented with some grains.
The taste starts slightly sweet(ish) followed by a nice bitterness throughout. The finish is nicely bitter.
Tastes great in a hot day, easily drinkable.

Clear pale gold in color, with some steady bubbling activity, I'm not surprised by the look. The head is nice: a solid, thick pure white crown that rests at precisely one finger's height for a good while, leaving strong patching as it slowly falls.
The nose offers plenty of grass balancing a crackery malt with some hints of honey and a lightly mineral note.
The flavor lets the biscuit and cracker, with the impression that it's lightly drizzled with honey, balance nicely against an almost perfumey delicate grassy bitterness. It's very clean, graininess never getting out of hand or taking over.
Crisp and clean as it should be, this light-bodied beer gets the style right.

Poured into a glass mug.

A- A very nice golden color. Two finger head that leaves lacing. Head is always there. Looks great.

S- Some malts, hops, bready, a tiny bit skunky. Almost has a Heinekin smell to it, but refreshing.

T- It has a strange metal taste at first, but fades away. Then I taste the bitter grassy hops and the light malts. Some bready and floral hops on aftertaste. It has a good balanced taste. Not really sweet.

M- Mouthfeel is crisp and light, not too carbonated. Clean.

O- Overall, this is a pretty good beer. It's better than most. I enjoyed it.

Poured from an 11.2oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a light gold color, with a short white head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains pungent malts, lager yeast, adjuncts and a very faint touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out with a faint malt & adjunct sweetness. Then a very mild hops presence comes in along with an odd bitterness that doesn’t seem to come from the hops. The malt character is very light and there isn’t much balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: A little crisp and but not very smooth, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Not tasty at all, does not go down very easily, not too filling, mild kick, this is definitely not one of the better beers that I’ve had.

Purchased at "99 Cents Only Store" in Highland Park, CA within the USA.

A: This looks well made. Bubbly beautiful looking beer!
S: This is the cologne of beers!
T: Mellow. Not bitter. Not strong. Not bland. Faint alcohol taste.
M: Smooth. Easy to drink.

Overall: This beer tastes like any of the local beers which are sold in the USA. Quality was good compared to many other imported beers. The beer was in good condition.

Best by 10/31/12.

Pours a clear gold with a 1 inch foamy white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is strongly of skunk when the bottle is opened and poured but as it warms I am also picking up some grain, grassy, and mineral-like aromas. Taste is of malt, grain, grass, hay, and some very dry herbal hop flavors. There is a medium amount of hop and mineral-like bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a dry flavor that is pretty interesting. Now I can say I have ticked "The First Albanian Beer".

A: Pours a crystal clear pale yellow in color with very light amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a quarter finger tall white head that quickly reduces to a thin film and a thicker ring at the edges of the glass. Light lacing is observed.

S: There is quite a bit of sweetness from the malts in the aroma, combined with some light corn adjunct malts, just a hint of skunkiness, and very light grassy hops.

T: Upfront this beer has a mild sweetness from the malts as well as a slight note of the corn adjunct malts. There is a light grassy hops presence in the finish.

M: Just a hint heavier than light bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.

O: This is the first and best Albanian beer that I have had, also I was surprised by how good this beer was since I had never heard people speak of the beers of Albania. Easy to drink and refreshing but not quite sessionable (slightly too sweet in my opinion). The only improvement I could suggest is to get rid of the green glass bottle.

A: The beer is clear yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a thin bright white head that never really faded away, consistently leaving a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface.
S: There are light to moderately strong aromas of sweet malts in the nose along with some tiny hints of skunkiness and a bit of grassy hops.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste has some sweetness along with flavors of bready malts and some hints of adjunct malts. The hops contribute a slight amount of bitterness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is very good for the style and has some properties akin to a German pilenser.

This is easily the best Albanian beer I had while in Albania. It was crisp and clean and a much better choice than Tirana beer. I highly recommend looking for this beer while in Albania. Plus, as with all of Albania, local beers are reasonably priced. In fact, do not order foreign beers as you will pay a hefty premium. If anyone wants some more info about traveling to Albania, just ask me!

Well, not expecting a lot from this beer, but I was out doing yardwork all day in the hot sun, so this might be the perfect fit for this beer. We shall see. Green bottle so hopefully not skunked.

Pours a light fizzy pasty white 1/2 finger foamy looking head, that fades at a med pace, touches of lacing around the sides, with a brilliantly clear golden straw blonde colored beer, fairly light colored but not as watery as I expected.

Nose is coming right out of the bottle upon popping it, plenty of Euro lager aromas, toasty straw like malt, typical pilsner malts, even a bit of a juicy malt base. That gives way to plenty of lager aromas, pure lager here, with some fruity lager aromas, and a nice crispness even in the aroma, and hints of light noble grassy hops. No skunk, at least the aroma, but a bit of an over lagered aroma, if that's a thing.

Taste starts with a bit of a metallic twing, the first real off flavor of it. It then leads into more lager flavors, with a bit of skunk as well. The lager brings some fruitiness and a bit of a light crispness. Malts come out as well but not as much as the nose, bringing again a light toasted pale malt, hint of pilsner cracked straw, a light juicy malt again with no real sweetness though. It's fairly dry throughout. A hint of noble grassy hops bring the typical flavor but its so faint almost like they waved the hops over it and hoped for the best. A bitterness comes but seems more from the metallic flavor of the yeast that starts to really get a bit irritating as it goes. The finish is quite dry still, a bit bitter and hint of metallic still, light fruity crisp lager finish.

Mouth is lighter bodied, decent carb.

Overall interesting, it started much better but finished a bit flat. Nose was pretty good and hinted at a great beer underneath but the flavor brought a few off flavors that were hard to overlook. Quite drinkable after coming in from a hot day working in the yard all day though.

Purchased at DeCicco's in Bronxville, NY. Labeled as The First Albanian Beer. Not sure how many people know about Albania, or even of its existence; but I wouldn't be surprised if this truly was the first commercial produced Albanian beer for export or otherwise. Albania was, at one time, THE MOST hardline communist regime in the world, making the North Koreans look like friggin libertarians. In fact, the Albanians severed ties with the Soviet Union and China cause they thought they weren't communist enough. Anyway, gotta agree with the Bros. on this one. This is a really good beer. I bought it thinking, damn another Euro Lager that I just wasted money on, why? But I'm pleasantly surprised. Nice golden color with a fluffy white head. Smell is clean and crisp and the taste follows the nose. Fruity and a pleasant candy-ness. Zesty mouthfeel with really nice carbonation. I could drink this for a good while and at 8 bucks for a Westchester six pack, I may just do so. This beer would have done Enver Hoxha proud....the bastard.

Review from BeerAdvocate Magazine Issue #54 (July 2011):

There’s more than one green bottled Euro Pils that’s imported into the US. With a head the Germans are probably jealous of, the pale golden clarity shines when put to the light. Delicate hoppiness in the nose with some fresh-cut grass graininess; a very beery nose at that. Light body, smooth palate. Floral, mild honey and grassy grain. Enough hop flavor to go around, and the bitterness easily balances. Quick kiss of sulphur from the yeast, but the graininess takes over and brings the beer into the drying finish. Korça easily surpasses many Euro Pilsners, including ones from Germany and the Czech Republic.

Pours pale yellow with a big foamy white head. A little spotty lace.

Light malt, light grain, some minerals in the nose.

Some sweet grassy notes, and an underlying sour grass edge. he malt is very light, and there is a little corny sweetness. It does dry out a touch, and clean up a bit. The bitterness is there, but way too mild. Finish is fairly clean. Drank about half on its own, and the rest was with food -- could not stand up to the simplest of sandwiches.

Lighter bodied. Good carbonation.

Well, not great. Not a cup of hate, but this is a bit weak-kneed. Flavor is not assertive enough, needs more bitter hop presence. Malt has just enough funk where you;ll reach for something else next time. Just ok.

Poured from a bottle into a wheat beer glass

A: Generates a 4 finger, pillowy, marshmallowy, white head. The beer itself is a bright golden straw color, with slight haze. Medium effervencence, but leaves no lacing.

S: The smell of this beer is crisp wheat, clean hops, and almost a hint of honey. No skunky smell!

T: The taste is clean crisp wheat, cereal grain, and mellow hop finish. Nothin too fancy, but nice.

M: Starts off very fizzy but then starts to get tepid and watery towards the end. But thats really the only complaint about this beer.

O: Never though I'd have as beer from Albania, but for my first one, I can say that I am impressed. Very fresh, clean tasting, and refreshing, especially for a green bottle import. Would recommend!

Had this on tap in a pizza place in Pogradec, Albania. We had just walked there from the Macedonian border (Sveti Naum), about a 8km walk, on a hot day, so we were anxious to get in and grab a bite to eat and whatever beer they had. We got cold Korca served in a big 500mL mug. Reviewing this from some notes I jotted down.

A: This one was a light gold with a very light head that fizzled out quickly.

S: Mostly grain and some light twang that was hard to define. Some sweetness. Not too bad.

T: I didn't like this one all that much. Rough grain all around, with some corn thrown in there. Finished watery with a slight sweetness. The mouthfeel was somewhat coarse and drying with a lot of carbonation.

D: Went down quick and we ordered another one.

No beer of this style will get above a 4 on any rankings, just because I am not the biggest fan of the style. Either way, this beer, in my opinion, was probably the best of this style Albania has to offer. It is refreshing, and drinkable. Dont expect too much out of the flavors, but it does have more than Birra Tirana. I drank this when I saw it in Albania, as there were not many other options (their dark one, Tirana, or Stela...).

Picked up while I was in southern Albania, as I was told it was the best the country had to offer. The green half liter bottle sports an oval gold and green label with a coat of arms above the name. My non-existent Albanian gets in the way, but I think the ingredients conform to the purity law. It was about ten months before its expiration date when I opened it.

Pours a clear medium gold under a two finger white head with good contour and retention, generating quite respectable lace. The nose is strong of corn and rice, with a slight rusty note - quite off-putting, actually. The mouth is very light and prickly. The taste is solid, despite the nose. There is mild bready malt up front, followed by a nice hops combination of flower and espresso. A very nice, refreshing brew with enough dry aftertaste to make you want to keep coming back.
