pours a clear yellow straw color with about 3 in of foamy head... looks like Bud light but with good head... one plus.

Smell is a disappointment.. malt and light hops

taste is watery... maybe some malt sweetness but no real hop flavor... just enough to be called "PURE BEER"

mouth-feel is like drinking water.

overall not that good at all.... never seen this beer before and i bought it thinking it was going to be more of a wit beer... then i poured it. oh well.... if you see it pass it up!!

500 ml bottle into lager glass, best before 10/5/2013. Pours slightly cloudy golden straw color with a 1 finger fairly dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of bready grain, cracker, floral, pear, apple, light pepper, biscuit, and herbal earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance of light fruity esters with malt/hop notes; with good strength. Taste of bready grain, cracker, floral, pear, apple, light pepper, biscuit, and herbal earthiness. Lingering notes of bread, cracker, floral, light pepper, and herbal on the finish for a short bit. Good balance of malt/hop flavors with light-moderate fruitiness; and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth and fairly crisp mouthfeel that is nice; without feeling too thin. Alcohol is very well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very good dortmunder style. Very clean with good balance of flavors and minimal esters; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Without going over the top with an in depth analysis, this is a good cheap lite tasting beer that works well with fast foods. Overall there is nothing too complex about it; this is trouble-free light lager made of barley malt and hops. Not a common beer to be found in my location, but still miles better than most in its price range and yet still very drinkable.

This beer is pretty flat looking in my glass. Perhaps it is a bit too cold. The color is yellow, as expected and clear as can be.

The aroma is good but not too pronounced. It may be the best thing about it besides the price.

The taste is OK. Not real clean, though, like it's been in this bottle too long. I am not sure I would buy this again, but maybe. It just isn't very exciting.

A-very golden with lots of bubbles and very nice thick white head

S-crisp german grains. slightly sweet. smells good though faint.

T-comes in with a very good taste of german grains with just a touch of grassyness. ther's a small sweetness to it which i find unfitting, but its small. its such a crisp and drinkable taste though, I love it. the after-taste is matching with only a hint of welcomed bitterness.

M-very creamy medium carbonation with a creamy finish that becomes dry

O-this is an example of a great german lager. i truly could drink large amounts of this in a sitting. it goes down so easily with a fresh taste of beer.

Poured 2 fingers of almost white head over a straw/pale gold colored body. Good stream of bubbles rising to the top, upon which this beer keeps a little froth. Lacing makes futile attempts to cling to the glass but quickly and easily succumbs to gravity.

Pale malt, fresh grassy hops are easily understood. It smells very sweet, and faintly of corn and a light hint of crackers.

Sweet pale malt is up to bat first. This passes to a hint of sweet corn mixed with buttery crackers and finishes with light grassy hops.

This beer is light bodied with heavy carbonation. At times I felt like I was drinking pop rather than beer. There is a slight dry finish.

Found this stuff inside a cooler at my local ABC Wine & Liquor Store. It was on sale for $ 6.45 a six pack. The packaging says " Brewed According to the German Purity Law of 1516" and each bottle also has that saying written on it. Never heard of HANSA before so I thought for the price, why not give it a shot.

Not a bad drinking beer for the price. Plus each bottle is 500ml which is about 16.91 Fluid Ounces. That said, your getting a lot more beer than anything you normally purchase in a 6 pack, domestic or foreign.

The label could use a major face lift. It just not very creative. The bottle is nice...brown, tall and because it holds over a pint, you know when you lift it up you've got a lot of beer in your hand. When I was walking out of the store with my six, I was feeling like someone out there really got smart and decided that making the bottle just a wee bit larger and spending the extra money on water and ingredients, might have a BIG influence on the consumers of this world. I hope their right.

As for the taste: well there isn't much to this stuff. Plain, but import plain. Which is to say, it's worth buying if the cost is under $ 7.00 a six. It could be more unique in the taste category. Appearence: It certainly could be less yellow and more bright. But the over-all appearance isn't bad for this price range. Smell; Good Kind of has a reminder of the old drinking days. Take your time with it and you'll see what I mean. It's there you just have to look for it. Mouthfeel: Weak.

Grab it if you can find it for less than $ 7...otherwise avoid if you have to pay full price.

I had never heard of this beer when I found it at Total Wine and Beer.
It pours a crystal clear bright pale yellow.
Has a dull lemon smell.
The taste just isn't as good as the other categories. Has a nice start but finishes with a bit of fake flavor.
Feels light and goes down easy. For the price this isn't a bad pick.

Let me begin by saying that I am partial to import only Germanic 'Larger/Pils' styles of beer. Having said that, please take this into account while reading this short review.

If I can think of one word that really comes to mind when you sample this beer it would have to be 'value.' This to me is important, especially with these lingering economic woes we've been enduring, and that most import beers have morphed into them annoying 11.2 ounce bottles!

In my opinion its a great example of what a proper, good tasting 'light beer' should be! At roughly a buck a 12oz. beer for home consumption, represents an excellent buy. I have been purchasing 6 pack PINTS for roughly $8.00 at Chicago area liquor stores.

This beer is shipped properly in completely enclosed, one pint BROWN bottle six packs, and adheres to the purity law. Its taste confirms this. No reasonable chance of skunk here folks! This is SO important when buying import beer.

It pours decently into a one pint glass, leaving a generous four finger, clumpy head. Surprisingly, most of the beer's modest, yet zesty flavor is in the head, which is something I am not accustomed to.

The color is average yellow, to almost pale, and the head settles rather thinly, yet leaves nice lacing on the sides of the glass. There is a definite hops flavor here resembling fresh, sliced Vienna bread. Finish is exceptionally clean, light, and clear making it an excellent summer brew for refreshment.

Overall this is a 'decent' lighter beer with noticeable flavor for consumption when more then one is required!

It is by no means the best representation of this type of beer, but its taste is authentic, with very little next day fallout.

**Additional note: I have read here that this beer was not brewed in Germany. Reading from the packaging of the beer I just purchased it reads:

"Brewed and bottled by Dortmunder Hansa-Brauerei GMBH, 4415 Dortmund, Germany"
