I've been a little apprehensive about going to Rock Bottom in the past as it is a chain. I've had my hopes crushed at some chain brewpubs in the past, so the bar was kind of low for Rock Bottom. We actually stopped in when we were downtown because of the freezing temperatures. Also, I just got my membership to the AHA and they provided a discount at Rock Bottom.

The environment was nice. Kind of an old English pub style, but bigger. I size of the place was actually a bit of a turn off. I prefer my brewpubs to be a bit smaller and less commercialized. I ordered the nachos w/ chicken (this is what I always order at a brewpub the first time around). The nachos were outstanding. Some of the best I've had at a brew pub. The beer selection was quite vast for a chain brewery. They had 5 regulars. 4 or 5 seasonals/specialities and two cask beers. I started off w/ the Silver Mullet Oatmeal IPA and my wife had the Cask Itaska Pale Ale. Both were fantastic. The cask Itaska would make for a solid session beer. The IPA was very nice and unique, but didn't have the bite that I wanted. Next I tried the Anniversary IPA. This was a great beer, true to a West Coast IPA. My wife had the lager, which was pretty good for a lager. They had an Imperial Stout, a cask brown ale and a bitter that I would have liked to try. Unfortunately I was driving and I was limited to 2 beers. I did take home a growler of the Anniversary IPA.

Overall, I really liked Rock Bottom. It shattered my low expectations for a chain brewery. The service was pretty good, but not the best, but the food and beer made up for it. I will definitely be going back again.

This was in the airport. Nice vibe and standard airport restaurant feel. The beer was decent and the food was good. Service was slow. Not sure why, maybe just one bartender but he seemed overwhelmed with not that many people. Good selection of food and four of their beers on tap. Burger was nice.

This is a chain and it has a little bit of that chain vibe but overall it is not too bad and a decent place to go with a group for a beer if you are down town. The food is not gourmet but it is edible.

This is a very large brewpub on the main floor of a downtown office building. Typical brewpub look. The beers are fine, nothing great. The service was friendly and helpful. This place would work in a pinch or to take people that aren't into beer quite like we are.
