3/21/16 bottling date

A: Pours a clear amber. Small tan head that fades out fast, no lacing.

S: Grassy and grainy sweetness.

T: Grassy up front with a little citrus. Sweet grains in the middle. A bit of cloves and especially white pepper in the finish and aftertaste. Another hint of grass lingers between sips.

M: Medium bodied, highly carbonated.

O: Pretty nondescript BSPA. Hops are pretty weak, maltiness is high. Decent chunk of belgian spices. It's all sorta muddled and meh at the same time. Not bad, not amazing though.

As a guy that prefers IPA's and Stouts, I've been a little slow to appreciate Belgian Ales, finding them too fizzy, and too sweet. That said, I like this beer. It pours a crisp golden hue and is filled with the expected bubbles with a mild head and no real lacing. The scent is understated, barely discernible to my nose. It leaves a refreshing bubbly clean feel in one's mouth almost like a mouthwash along with the alcohol backdrop. But taste is what we appreciate, right? And the taste of this is very pleasing to my palate. It has sort of an apple/pear taste followed by a clean dry finish, and the 8.5 ABV content is recognizable. I'm slowly coming around to the Belgian's, and this baby is helping to lead me there.

Pours a hazy orangeish brown color with a head that fades to nothing almost immediately. Pleasant aromas of overripe banana, clove, spices, Belgian candi, and yeast. Flavors are a middle mix of fruits, yeast, Belgianesque spices, and too much alcohol heat. Unbalanced with a sticky mouthfeel with too much alcohol burn. A decent beer but not great. I'll have a Duvel next.

On tap at Eureka Bakersfield. Pours a hazy golden color with little head. Taste has some light spice notes. A very easy drinking beer.

On tap at the Yard House in Los Angeles.
Slightly hazed, orange yellow color. Creamy thick head, good retention, thichk sheets of lace.
Smell starts with some yeast, and sweet fruitiness. Orange, grapefruit, maybe even peach. A bit of bitter hops.
Taste has the same fruitiness, but finishes a bit spicy. Some witbier - like notes of coriander or clove, and a bit of yeast at the finish.
Medium body, light carbonation make it refreshing and clean and not too oily or slick.
A good tasting beer, didn't sense any alcohol burn, very drinkable.
