A: Pours a slightly hazed golden color with a minimal white head.

S: Very, very spicy and yeasty. I know they were going for the Belgian thing here, but it's a bit overdone.

T: As with the nose, this one was a bit of a let down. Way too intense in terms of the spice and yeast character, almost completely washing out the malt. Also, there is a fair amount of alcohol presence, which is a bit surprising

M: Medium bodied with light to moderate carbonation.

D: This one is a bit too hot and way too spicy for me. I suppose it might work for some, but I won't be having this one again.

Pours dark amber with a quickly fading and thin white head. Nothing special in the looks department.

Nose is very assertive sweet cooked malty bananas, carmel and light sweetened coffee with almost a maple character. Nice nose, a hint of whiskey and very Belgian candi sugar.

Mouthfeel is medium, with some nice body, light creamy character and good rich feel.

Flavors follow the nose. Flavors are bold and assertive. Very banana malty with sweet ripe apricots, carmel and some light sweet creamed coffee with toffee undertones and lots of Belgian candi sugar character. Flavors are pleasant and bright although there is a sweetness that may be detracting to some.

Finish is light grapefruit bitter hop with hints of coffee and light espresso. Nice effort.

Tried this at the LA county fair a couple weeks ago.

Golden, clear, minimal head, no retention, little lacing.

Smell and taste were the same: alcohol. Sweet but boozy. Not very inviting. If there was any spice from the hops or yeast it wasn't noticeable over the abv.

Body was thin, like a good belgian pale should be. Low CO2 levels didn't help.

Too boozy to drink much of. Gave the rest away to some lady at the bar. My guess is that either too much sugar was added or it fermented too hot. Possibly both.

Lucky enough to try this at Hollingshead.

Pours with a golden, elixir-ish appearance. Normally I'm not a big fan of brews that pour with little head and not much carbonation, but the rich golden hue was very attractive.

Smells sweet, yeasty, and Belgian candi-y. Taste is nice, with a rich sweet background, some dark/sweet fruits in there, and a nice complicated yeast profile. Let it simmer on the tongue. Don't know how drinkable it is over the long haul, but very impressed with the glass I had. Nice chewy/thick mouthfeel.

I sampled Old World Hefeweizen two months ago, which was my first taste of this new OC brewery. Now its beers are available in bottles, and this is what I grabbed during my trip to Vendome. On to the beer:

Impressive golden color and full of carbonation. Unfortuntely, this head fizzes away like a soda; no head to speak of. The aroma is soft and pleasant, Belgain sugar, candied fruits, bread dough, powdey yeast. The taste features more of the same aromas in the mouth as the nose. Good balance of flavors, not too sweet and not too carbonated. Pears and dough upfront with a tickle of spice. The carbonation cleans it up, then in the semi-dry aftertaste is apple and bread dough.

Good, good, good. Apart from having no head whatsoever, this suceeds in every aspect.

Poured from a corked 750ml bottle. A nice pop when the cork is released with some smoke coming out of the bottle. The head is fluffy and white but makes its exit rather quickly leaving a peaceful golden color behind. The aroma has the presence of candied sugar, plum, apricots and pears with a mirroring flavor profile. The hops are crossed up in the sweetness but are noticable on the spicy side. The sugar hangs on the palette with the heat from the alcohol then fades to the back and finishes on the dry side. The fruity sweetness and subtle hop bitterness blend well for a good beer.
