A 3.4/5???? This beer is seriously underrated. It is certainly not the best of the best porters but at least it deserves a better score. To the least, I believe this beer is very fun to drink. To encourage my fellow drinkers to try it out:
L: Good carbonation, 1.5 to 2 finger initial head into a tulip glass, beautiful tan-to-brown head, good lacing, and dark brown to black body;
A: First impression when it was still a bit cold is like smelling the fresh grass in a cold morning, earthy English hops, then the minty chocolate cookie aroma kicks in, then a little bit of a toastiness/smokiness from the dark malt, subtle acidity at the end;
F: again, sweet and delightful. wonderful minty, chocolaty and caramel tastes. Some nuttiness in it maybe. The aftertaste is somewhat dry, although very little discernible bitterness during, and it is more like dark coffee/chocolate bitter than hop bitter. The alcohol is not well-hidden either intentionally or not ---- although it's only 6.1%, you can still feel the alcohol retro-nasally.
Overall: A delightful and fun-to-try beer for the winter. First time trying this beer as well as this brewery, will definitely try some more brews from Bootleggers' in the near future. Cheers!
edit: the mintiness is not like the spicy mintiness in a lot of chew gums but like subtle herbal mintiness

I really enjoyed this beer. I got this as a gift and it become my favorite beer. Great taste. Nice buzz. I watched it with an old godzilla film and it was the perfect combo.
The taste is not quite chocolate and not quite mint. The flavors don't overwhelm each other, but play well together.
