On-tap at Bootlegger's,

A: Pours a medium gold, lightly cloudy, light white head, good lace.

S: Great honey nose, the hops don't get in the way, sweet herbal notes, some cinnamon.

T: The honey notes are good, sweet malt with an earthy grassy hoppiness. Nice flavour, but kind of obliterates the great honey taste.

M: Medium-bodied, smooth, creamy, solid feel.

D: It was cool to see this dry-hopped, but just wondering why. The Spring Ale is defined by it's honey character and while I love hops, they just get in the way here. Why mess with success.

Oh, I loved this beer - it was my favorite of the night among a stellar line-up. Sweet herbal tea with lots of honey on the nose, notes of chamomile and green herbs. But it was dry as a bone on the palate, with a short but complex and lightly bitter finish. In fact, I'm surprised to see other reviewers describing it as sweet. I expected something cloying and sticky, but it was light and refreshing and very, very drinkable.

On-tap at Bootlegger's

A: The view through the mason jar shows a hazed golden amber color with a frothy white head.

S: Sweet on the nose with lots and lots of cinnamon sugar. A very herbal thing going on as well as a lot of floral notes. Perhaps a bit of eucalyptus? Slightly lemony, but not tart.

T: Tons of cinnamon, once again. I get cardamom and floral honey, which are sort of strange, but it works, I guess. Some lemony tea flavor and a bit of bready malts.

M: The body is medium with the carbonation being medium as well.

D: A lot of things going on here, but I think they worked out well. I sort of wish they would stop doing all these herbaceous beers, though.

Sampled 2/25/2011 at the brewery.

Pours murky dark yellow/orange with some white head that doesnt last nor does it lace the glass.

Aroma is honey, cinamon, malt, and herbs.

Flavor is all over the place with lemon, lemon candy, honey, cinamon, mint, bread, and Belgian yeast. Like a spiced saison.

Body is light leaning towards medium. Drinkable but sweet.
