The Galaxy hops from Australia give it a funkadelic tropical fruit aroma, and the balance between the malt and hops is wicked. You’ll want to bogart this one because every sip keeps you wanting more, and at 7% alc by vol, this IPA will have you talking jive in no time. It’s going to be difficult not to dig this beer, because it’s far out, man.

Fairly good West Coast style IPA. 4/6/20 date printed on can. Pours a slightly darker golden color with a little fluffy white head but minimal lingering lacing. Smells of crisp grapefruit, lemon, orange, malt, vanilla, bread and some stronger bitter piney and herbal hops. Taste follows the nose, fairly bracing bitter hoppy bite that was very pleasant. Smooth, sticky mouthfeel that mildly coated the palate. Great amount of carbonation retention. Quite an enjoyable beer, especially for a hot summer’s day.

When the can calls out “West Coast Style IPA,” I expect a full-flavored hoppily bitter IPA with some malt presence and a body I can look through and see my beautiful bride on the other side of my glass. This beer checks those boxes, plus some.

The beer pours a burnt orange color and is oh so nearly clear, with just a smidge of hop haze. There’s a foamy light tan head, which allows ripe tangerine and subtle caramalt aromas to escape and tantalize you.

The reward is the taste , where the bitter tangerine flavors are complemented so well by the caramalt flavors, so you’ve got a very bitter but not too bitter WCIPA in your glass.

This is the beer I picture as my “local” beer, sitting at the bar with a view of the Pacific, sitting with my wife and having a couple of pints while we discuss the day.

Copper with good effervescence and ample head. Great retention and lacing, even on tap. This is a deep malty IPA, similar to Voodoo Ranger. More crisp and lively though. Nice brew. Not special but a extremely drinkable and well-brewed IPA.

Picked up a 6 pack of this a few years ago when I was in Orange County, waiting for the Bruery to open up, saw this place was close by and open 1 hour earlier than the Bruery.

Pours a golden color familiar to beer, 1/3" white head, good clarity. Zero appearance issues. The aroma didn't give me the same level blast their knuckle sandwich used to. The commercial tug job about Galaxy hops falls short of its claim. Just wasn't pushing tropical aromatics for me. When you get Galaxies, they push pineapple, this one did not.

Taste, eh, has some Simcoe like bittering notes, but flavor is just not pushing the hops. Given the relatively high nature of the cost of a 6 pack ($13) I expect them to have a higher production cost of hop acquisition utilization etc. , but this one came out slightly disappointing in that department. Its got a nice light pale toasted malt character to it that hits the quintessential dryness of style subgenre. From a taste perspective, its pretty much the most common ipa fruit: grapefruit going for it. Hides the alcohol well, but there are superior products that are cheaper to acquire.

Perfectly clear golden body with a small white head.
The nose is on the pine needles, orange and grapefruit.
The taste is on a low bitter oranger character and cereals
Fine carbonation and quite dry.
Ok west coast ipa

22oz bomber, bottled on 03 Jan 18, purchased 01 Jul 18...so not fresh, at all, but still a solid example of the style, would love to find a fresher example.
