This hop-forward Rye IPA put spicy earthy flavors on full display, balanced with the hop presence of the American IPA. What comes of the marriage is a uniquely flavorful, easy-to- drink, autumn-friendly beer.

Pours a deep golden color with a pillowy retentive head.
Smells like hops pretty much.
Taste is very bready and earthy. Minor bitterness that I enjoy.

Appearance: Pours a deep Amberish copper color, with a sticky, medium white foam head.
Aroma: Herbal and Danky. Smells like a fresh, well cured bud. Some spicy undertones.
Taste: Piney up front, with a nice hop bitterness balanced and complimenting rye grains in the mid. Earthy and herbal in the finish. The bitterness lasts through the to the end. The finish lingers, but ever so subtle, making it semi-clean.
Overall: Wow. This is incredibly unique. Danky in flavors and aroma. The rye really works its magic here. There is some complexity and good balance. I've tasted nothing like it before. I would absolutely drink it again and I would show it off to my friends.

Poured from a can into my beloved Swamp Head brewing shaker pint. Pours quite an interesting slightly hazy amber color. The smell is a bit tame compared to the taste. It’s got pine and some citrus on the nose, to me. Maybe some light malt character. The taste, however really makes this beer shine. I described it to a friend of mine this way. “It’s like drinking an evergreen forest. In the middle of that forest there is a small citrus tree. And by that citrus tree there’s a group of campers having a bonfire.” The taste is much more complex. It’s earthy, it’s piney, it’s got a hint of citrus, and the rye brings about a wonderful smoky flavor that is string on the finish. A wonderful fall/winter beer. Highly recommend.

Got in a BIF from KMitch. 12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 9/25/2018. Pours slightly hazy deep golden/orange/amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy cream colored head with awesome retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, melon, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, cracker, spicy rye, toasted biscuit, light caramel/nuttiness, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and rye/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, melon, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, cracker, spicy rye, toasted biscuit, light caramel/nuttiness, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness; and rye spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, melon, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, cracker, spicy rye, toasted biscuit, light caramel/nuttiness, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and rye/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness and rye spiciness balance; with no astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and rye spiciness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/sticky, and fairly crisp/resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 7.4%. Overall this is an excellent rye IPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and rye/bready malt flavors; very smooth, easy, and fairly crisp to drink with the modestly bitter/spicy/resinous/drying finish, not overly aggressive. Great classic Columbus/Mt Hood profile. Balanced juicy, dank, and earthy hop complexity; great rye/bready malt backbone, mild residual sweetness with lingering dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and well made style example.

6-pack cans. Got this in Florida.
I finished the last one almost a year ago.
I remember that it was a very nice beer, with a little bit of character, perhaps from adding rye to the malt bill?
