Poured on draft at local bottle shop.
A: Reddish brown with a soapy 2 finger long lasting head that left heavy lacing.
S: Belgian candy sugar, raisin, plum, tart cherries.
T: Sweet dark fruits. Some plum, raisin, date, and cherries. There is a slight tartness here that reminds me a bit of red wine.
M: Full bodied with a nice creamy texture.
O: Very well done. Had it been a bit spicier, I would have almost classified this as a quad.

Brewed perfectly to style. Moderately sweet. Spicy Belgian yeast character. Dark fruits - plum, raisin, grape. Almost red wine like, but better of course, since beer is better than wine.
This is a world class beer, but noooot quite perfect from my perspective. I drink an awful lot of beer. I find myself searching for something of an X factor in beer. Something that goes beyond a beer brewed perfectly to style. Something that maybe makes it not quite perfectly to style, but so damn tasty i can't stop drinking it.
This one is excellent, but no X factor. Damn drinkable though. Just a tad hot on the first sip but once you dig in, the 10+% ABV disappears and it goes down real easy.
Perhaps if I was in a different mood this would have gotten all 5s. Perhaps not.

Got a ghetto growler of this from Dee's package store. Poured into a snifter. Deep brown with some reddish highlights. Looks like a good BSD. Small head formed of mocha color -- maybe it's a bit small because it came from a growler.
Smell is full of Belgian yeast spiciness and a bit of alcohol. I get some cloves and ginger along with a little dark fruit.
Flavor has a larger dRk fruit presence -- plum and raisin. Also lots of yeast spiciness like with the aroma. Finally, just a smidge of alcohol here. This is a 10.5% abv beer and it tastes like it -- it's not hot alcohol but it is present.
Mouthfeel is great for the style. Very well carbonated but also well attenuated and not overly sweet. Very nice beer. Very easy of drink.
Note: Revised after finishing the growler -- excellent, really easy to drink BSD. I'll actively seek this out in the future.
