Bold City Mad Manatee IPA... problably somewhere in the range of 5.5-6.2% alcohol.
Poured from a growler into a 22oz. mug.

A- Nice dark orange fluid with firey outer walls as the light goes threw it. Thick off white head falls leaving a sticky rim around the glass and quarter inch froth that stays around.

S- Sharp scents of pine and floral hops dominate the nose a sweet malts linger in the backbone.

T-M- Hops are appearant in the form of citrus and piney bite, with a sweet but muddled carmel malt backbone. Mouthfeel is heavily astringent and tangy with a lasting bitter bite.

D- All and all a good ipa and a good pint but maybe a little to much at once for a growler.

12 oz can, "038 17" stamped on the bottom

Pours clouded darker orangey amber, frothy khaki fluff and leaving globs of thicker lacing and low sheeting.

Ripe tropical fruit sniff...mangoe infused

Tasty and enjoyable brew with soft and ripe fruit notes, pineapple and mango coming to mind..better then decent tropical hop Florida IPA

Solid IPA. Very refreshing. Had a six of it on the beach near Jacksonville on a hot day. It was a good choice. I would buy it again.

Amber hued and extremely murky in appearance. There's a quarter inch of tan to beige resting on top. There is some moderate lacing. The aroma is difficult to seek out but I do get some citrus notes. The flavor is a dulled citrus and grapefruit dominated IPA. The light malt is clearly overwhelmed by the hops. The intense hopping causes a deep hop burn on the tongue.

12 oz can (thanks LJ) served in a Fat Cat glass.

Hazy copper body with a moderate size white head.

Aroma: mild for style; dominated by hops but with more malt aroma than one might expect.

Flavor: Moderate complexity and low bitterness for an American IPA.

Feel: near medium body; medium carbonation; slightly dry finish.

Overall: a well-crafted, flavorful but mild IPA.

On-tap at the brewery.

Pours a clear light copper color with a one-finger white head. The head recedes into a thin layer on top leaving decent lacing.

Smells of pale malts with good amounts of earthy hops. Slightly bitter citrus aromas waft out as the beer warms.

Tastes similar to how it smells. Pale malt flavors kick things off and are followed quickly by decidedly bitter and earthy hop flavors. The hops carry through to a mildly bitter ending.

Mouthfeel is good. It's got a solid thickness with moderate carbonation.

Drinkability is also good. I finished my glass without a problem and could have another.

Overall this isn't a bad IPA however I wouldn't seek it out again.

Bold City Brewery "Mad Manatee IPA"
12 oz. can, coded "212 14 11:33"
$1.67 @ Winn Dixie #0199, Jacksonville, FL

Appearance: Very hazy orange-copper body with visible particulate in suspension - most likely from dry hopping. The frothy off-white drops steadily to a wide collar. Lacing is average.

Aroma: Citrus and pine over a gentle golden caramel drizzled malt base.

Flavor: Bright hops combine citrus and pine with a subtle berry-like fruitiness (that could be from hops or yeast). A golden caramel character gives the grainy and biscuity malt charm, and it remains sweetish against a just-enough-to-balance bitterness along with a subtle, underlying tartness that's really quite unique. It finishes dry with lingering notes of pine and spice.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied and moderately crisp before warming in the mouth to soften and become almost smooth.

Overall: A straightforward, clearly crafted IPA that's an accessible, reliable, and drinkable beer.

Wreckers Orlando 5/20/15

Pretty plain all around. Would say the same thing for every category. Plain plain and plain. Not bad but not good.

Pours a duller amber red with a slight orange hue and a finger of off-white foam.

Pine and citrus hits the nose up front, but biscuity and caramelly malts lend sweetness to the aroma. However, the aroma is overall rather dull.

Pine and citrusy notes play in the flavor as well, but seem more muted. The biscuity and caramel malt backbone overpowers the hop bitterness.

Light-bodied, medium carbonation, leans sweet, minimal bitterness.

Overall, while this is a drinkable beer and has a fantastic label, it needs bit of work. Rather underwhelming, but still easy drinking.

L: Hazy dark orange, with a small off-white head. Darker for an IPA.

S: Muted citrus hops, and sweet malt.

T: This surprised me a bit. Sweet maltyness, then a touch of fruity bitterness, then more malt. Definitely more malty than your average IPA. Bitterness dies off and the aftertaste is more sweet, almost carmely malt.

F: Medium bodied and very smooth.

O: Lately I've described myself as a hophead, but I do love a good malty beer. This is somewhere in between. Very drinkable, and the bitterness isn't really there. I could see how some with disapprove and say that this Beer doesn't do a good job of standing out. However, I'd drink it again. I'd recommend it to someone who is easily put off by more hopforward IPAs.
