Mild, creamy ale that is easy to drink and pleasant on the tongue. Lacks a bit of flavor depth. Would buy again.

My first offering from Bold City - though not spectacular, definitely better than the last cream ale I had...

My oldest son (drinking age, of course) brings home a can of this stuff trying to show dear old dad how he's getting the hang of this craft beer jazz. And what does he bring? A cream ale. Knowing full well the last we we drank tasted like liquid-ashtray. I've been avoiding cream ales since. But no fear he tells me, this one's way better, and in some regards it is, but still not something I will be looking for on my own.

This brew reminds me more of a wheat beer than a cream ale from it's look and smell - the distinctive cloudiness, the non-existent head or lacing, and the wheaty, bready smell that comes with it. I found it very carbonated - not to my liking, and though it tasted better than the last cream ale (from Ballast Point no less!) it still had a weird and I would say almost bad aftertaste. Quite possibly the worst aftertaste I have experience in a very long time. Overall, it's not terribly bad, or even bad, it's decent actually. I'm sure there are folks that love this stuff - but these cream ales just aren't for me.

Killer Whale has a thick, creamy, white head, a mostly clear, yellow appearance, lots of fine, powdery sediment, and rather heavy lacing left behind. The aroma is of sweet malts, with flaked maize, in the background. Taste is of sweet malt, low-level, mellow hop bitterness, and white corn, possibly. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Killer Whale finishes crisp and refreshing.

12 oz can, drank straight from it. Found at a Target in Kissimmee, FL on vacation, so figured give it a try.
Pretty refreshing, cream ales I often find as a heavier Kolsch.

Nice smooth easy drinking. Slightly nutty finish. Certainly session worthy. Good find Mel.

Pours a clear yellow golden color with white head. Cereal grains on the nose, some light bread too; follows onto the palate. Light bodied. Finishes with more of the same.

Had this one multiple times, but was never too impressed. Mediocre in just about every way, but the rhyming title helps a smidgen. No, the killer whale never really did seem more in than out of place. Light in color with a quickly vanishing head, not crisp and not flavorful enough to justify its 5.5%. Sorry, this one simply could not manage a place in the regular rotation.
