Style: Old Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 12.00%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Our Adam aged in American Oak barrels. First released in 2000, and released again in November 2011 in 12oz bottles. This 12% beer has lots of the typical HOTD aromas: Caramel, brown sugar, tons of raisin and tobacco. Fig, date, and plum fruitiness in that order. This has a fairly strong earthy vinousness as well as oak vanilla.

Appearance- The beer poured a deep murky brown color with mocha bubbles clinging to the sides of the glass.

Smell - The nose is that of magnificent sweet dark fruits with a hint of booze.

Taste - I detect prunes, nuts, caramel, raisins, and a slight vanilla presence with the wood coming through at the end. The overall profile is like that of a port.

Mouthfeel- Even with little carbonation, this still seems a bit thin.

Overall - I wanted this one forba long time. It was worth the wait.

12 oz 2015 vintage at brewery

L - poured thick cola, minimal lacing and no head.
S - Caramel, dried figs and dates.
T - more of the same, with thick sweetness and slightly oxidized sherry notes
F - really thick, almost no carb

Overall an amazing beer, but the low carb does pull it down from being the best it can be

Had this at the taproom with lunch. Delicious. Dark brown chocolate color with just a slight tan head. Big bourbon aromas. Taste is at first just a smooth bourbon, but follows with some stone fruit, cherry, peach. Nice complexity. Mouth is smooth, medium body. Overall, a delicious and very drinkable BA ale.
