Poured from a 20oz bottle into a speiglau IPA glass.

Look is an orange Amber and very hazy with a thin white head.

Astringent lemon aroma with a real honey malt at the end.

Taste is similar with a slight herbal lemon and a clear honey note.

Delicious easy summer drinker.

Medium gold body, slightly hazy; white head with some messy lace trails; fruity and malty - initially a little thicker on the feel than I expected; bitterness is mild. Warmed exceptionally well as it thinned out, taking on a real nice smooth, slippery feel with lots of mildly boozy orchard fruit impressions.

Had a glass at the tasting room in SE Portland. Straw colored and cloudy, this looks more like a Belgian. White, creamy head with streaky lacing. Smell is light citrus and malt, not much happening. The flavor is really amazing. Not like any other IPA I've tried. Fruit forward, melon and citrus. Grapefruit in the aftertaste - hoppy bitterness. Pine notes. Resinous and juicy mouthfeel - excellent beer!

I think mine was old, no bottle date, tasted quite malty with very little hops. Was dated "Winter 2016." Nah, wouldn't do that one again.

i had no idea these guys made beers that werent enormous strong ales, so this was cool to see on their tap list. its a good one too, quite typically northwestern, nice punchy hops with grapefruit and pine family appearances. its hazy and its aromatic, juicy on the hops, but also very malty, a little richer than most, with some caramel to it, although really the hops are so aggressively dosed that it almost doesnt matter whats going on in the malt bill. pine at first with bitter citrus later on, a shade of sweet in there, but its both oily and bitter, the hops dominate the flavor and the texture, as they should in this style. i wonder if its called double ipa because the hops are doubled. the abv here doesnt suggest it should be a double, i guess its all case by case, but the hops are huge here. somehow it remains pretty approachable though, like, its so juicy and ripe and fresh that it attracts me like a honey bee to a bright flower, i cant get enough. some yeast breadiness to this too. carbonation is there, which helps keep it moving, and while the hops complexion isnt new in terms of whats in here, its new in the way it stands out like this even from a larger grain build. fun stuff, highly recommended.
