3 year old bottle. Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a fine, half finger khaki head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of mild dark toasted and dry caramel malt,
dates, raisins and a hint of cocoa; boozy. Flavor is dark toasted and biscuit malt, dates, raisins, licorice, mild dark chocolate and hints of cherry. Smoothly integrated finish with lingering dark malt, dark fruit and cocoa. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. Well, after my lack of excitement over the undercarbonated Bourbon Fred From the Stone the other night, this reestablished my interest in big Hair of the Dogs ales. The aroma is classic American strong ale, with a mixture of stout and dry barleywine elements, but the flavor of this three year old is much more blended and smooth. Very nice aftertaste with fruit and cocoa notes. The aroma had clear ethanol character, but the alcohol was well covered in the taste. I like this strong ale blend quite a bit and glad I got a chance to try it. Great collaboration.

A - Dark brown chocolate opaque color with creamy, toffee colored lacing.

S - Black licorice, anise, oak, and cream.

T - Roasted cocoa, black licorice, light smoke and char, oak. Nice lingering roasted cocoa and char on the back end that goes on and on and on ...

M - Rich and full bodied with a silky texture and lip smacking sticky.

O - A pretty fantastic Imperial Stout with a Belgian flare. Very pricey, but good.

Had this on 2018-11-23 in Bethel Park, PA from a bottle

Dark chocolate, dark cherry, char, caramel, alcohol heat, oak, light black licorice. Astringent finish.

Had this the same Eve as as BCBS, which was much better.

Very dark appearance with slight tan head that disipates quickly. Aroma is a coffee malt. Taste is a prominent coffee malt that has a slight bitterness and some alcohol aftertaste.

Draft at taproom. Another exquisite pour inky black pour with tight creamy head. Aroma is dark and smoky, taste continues with a nice roasty bitter bite. Smooth on the palate, bitter on the tongue. Complex and enjoyable.

Pours dark brown. Thick, short, light brown head that last a while.

Smells chocolate, brown sugar, Smokey hints, roasted malt and earthy.

Taste roasted malt, dark chocolate, dark fruit hints, Smoky hints and brown sugar. Followed by an earthy bitterness. Finish is semi dry with an earthy and roast malt linger. Medium body and smooth lower medium carbonation.
