Had on tap. Dark opaque brown with a white cap and light splotches of lacing. Malt drives this beer, right away in the nose you get plenty of malt with aromas of toasted caramel, nuts, toast, and brown bread, all kissed by a hint of booze. Taste is from the same vein, in particular burnt caramel explodes on the palate in a rewarding way but definitely sweet. Feel is rich and malty with luxurious depth but doesn't get too heavy or thick. Great doppelbock, though a little less sweetness would take it to the highest heights

While I have tried many of their beers, I hadn't tried Hage until my last visit. More on the dark brown than other Dopplebocks, this beer wasn't too lite feeling like some Dopplebocks, but hit the right notes of caramel and sweetness, but not too much.

clear, dark brown color, some reddish highlights. Really nice toffee and caramel flavors, and a little berry fruitiness. Moderately sweet. Medium to full bodied.
