Pours with very little carbonation, almost still. Feels that way on the palate too, which is a bit of a turnoff.

Tastes a bit old and muddled at first, with some minerality raising an eyebrow. As the beer warms and settles, a richer array of flavors come forward - prunes, dates, currants, caramel, a slightly bitter, tannic finish. Some umami and plum/berry fruit combine for a nice combo. Again, there's a chalky, mineralic note. Heavy on the palate, but finishes relatively dry. Still, I'm wishing for more carbonation.

Overall, one of the more interesting old ales I've had. Although I think it could use more time in the bottle both from a flavor and carbonation development perspective.

Aroma has leather, dark fruit, tobacco, oak, dampness, and a hint of chocolate. Thick brown with minimal head. Taste has spice, plum, leather, tobacco, cocoa, wood, vanilla, bourbon, and soy sauce. Minimal carbonation. A very intense, very unique beer.

Batch 92.
Pours from the bottle a dark brown with a never-ending dark tan head. Strong carbonation and tons of lace.
Amazing aroma: chocolate, molasses, caramel, toffee, brown sugar and hints of hazelnut.
Dark chocolate leads the taste with dark fruit, molasses and some bitter char notes. As it warms a bit, I get vanilla, leather and a touch of smoke.
Mouthfeel is very smooth and creamy.
A very nice experience.

12 FLUID OUNCE bottle
Served in a snifter
Batch 92

This beer pours black in color and is topped with several inches of tan head that leaves some nice lacing.

I smell milk chocolate with a hint of smoke.

The taste begins with milk chocolate. Through the middle I get some earthy flavors and some more familiar old ale flavors in the finish.

Medium to full mouthfeel

This is different from all the other old ales that I have tried. This one is more like a stout with the color, flavor, and aroma. It is pretty good.

Very dark appearance. Very little aroma tobacco? Almost no head or carbonation. Taste is a little fruity but bitter and the bitterness increases toward the end. I did not notice any alcohol taste.
