Came in a green bottle, which alarmed me, because green bottles usually equate to skunk. Not so with this! Whew.

Pours an apple cider colour with no head, smell is a malt forward aroma. Taste is sweeter with a nice biscuity flavour, finish is smooth with mild hops.

It looks of a pale yellow colour, with a not too persisent head of foam , with medium-thin grain.
Aroma of malt, cereals, crust of bread, only a little metallic.
Taste of malt, honey, biscuit, with a balanced aftertaste, but rather sweet and pleasant.
It is a beer with light body, with low carbonation.

.5 L cans in Croatia.
This is a solid but unexceptional European pilsner. It is clean and refreshing, equipped with lively carbonation, and good with food,

From the 500 ml. green bottle with a marking of L8290. Sampled June 28, 2019. Maybe my first beer from Croatia.

Lager looking golden pour with a chill haze and short lived white head. Average clarity.

Green bottle skunkiness comes into play on the nose. But once I have accepted that I find a decent enough toasted white bread crust, barley grain, and floral character.

Light refreshing body.

The taste is a step up as I get a nice breaded sweetness and a clean finish.

Decanted from a 16.9 oz (500 ml) green bottle into a custom taster pint; production code L9253.
A: Pours crystal clear, slightly dark golden color with a three and a half finger, foamy white head, beautiful, long lasting retention and lacing.
S: Was pleased that it wasn't skunked, but light, fairly basic, some pepper, but mostly earthy, grainy, and grassy aromas.
T: Very dry. Slightly malty, but characterized largely by outsized bitterness which starts early and lingers after swallowing. Nicely balanced, flavorful Bohemian Pilsener.
M: Light bodied with very persistent, tiny bubble carbonation. Smooth and creamy.
O: This is a solidly constructed Pilsener. Would love to try it on tap.

Poured from 500ml green bottle into glass. Purchased at a bottle shop in Fargo ND. Date code is 'L8291'.
Clear, pale gold colored body. Pour produces a half finger of white head, which stays around. Has quite a rising bubble show. No lacing.
Aroma of malt and corn. Little bit of sweet honey, and some spicy hops.
Taste is quite sweet, with malt and corn. Subdued spicy hops. The end is like honey bread.
Thin to medium mouth feel. Good carbonation. The beer is very quaffable.
Thankful that the beer was not skunky, being that it came from a green bottle. Okay for the Croatian beer halls, not as good as Czech pilsners.

Pours a pale, clear gold, with a quickly dissipating head.

Smells a little grassy, kind of herbal.

Taste is light, earthy, grassy.

Crisp, light, and refreshing...exactly what you expect from a euro pils.

Out of a 16.9 ounce bottle. Cheers! A little too much corn adjunct or something going on. It's not on par with your heineken and stella artois or your spaten lager. It's worth one try out. Let's make this review short & sweet. It's a little worse in my opinion your average euro pale lager. I agree with some people on this page talking about how overly sweet this beer is. I think heineken and stella artois are better euro lagers than this beer. Hey, at least I can tell my friends that I was able to try a beer from Croatia. Cheers! B-

I must say that even if this beer turns out to be no Bueno, I am still intrigued to have found a beer from Croatia! I had been scouring local bottle shops yesterday when I spotted this oddball bottle at Country Garden Six-Pack & decided to give it a whirl.

From the bottle: "Okrunjeno Kvalitetom (Crowned with Quality)"; "Stoljetna Tradicija (Centuries-old Tradition)".

I Pop!ped the cap & began a slow, gentle pour into the awaiting glass. I followed this with a vigorous in-glass swirl that raised just over a finger of foamy bone-white head with decent retention. Color was Golden-Amber (SRM => 5, < 7) with NE-quality clarity, enticing a visit from The Gelt Gang of Mammon, Midas & Croesus. Nose smelled of honey malt and grassy Saaz hops & my first thought was "Heineken", which is apparently not far off of the mark as Heineken is their parent company! Mouthfeel was thin & watery, even for a lager. The taste was definitely Saaz hops-driven, but it seemed muted when compared to the nose. It had a light grassiness and a light honey-like flavor, but in both cases, it seemed dialed down/back. Finish was semi-dry & highly refreshing, which is what I really want in a Czech Pils, but given a choice between this one and Pilsner Urquell, I am going with the latter over the former. The redeeming thing about this one is its relatively inexpensive price point. It may not have been the greatest, but at least I did not pay much for it. Oh well.

Poured from 16.9oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a light gold color, with a very thin white head that fades very quickly and leaves very little lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains lager yeast, light caramelized malts and a very faint touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out with some mild malt sweetness. Then some breadiness comes in from lager yeast and a light malt character. The hops presence is extremely mild and there is not much balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet and slightly bready.

M: Crisp but not very smooth, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

O: Not very flavorful, goes down ok, not too filling, mild kick, decent representation of style, there are definitely better choices available in the style.

From backlog. 500 ml bottle. Skunk in the nose and the flavor. Leaves a film on the roof of the mouth. This beer tastes like any run of the mill European lager, a la Heineken. Not impressed.

Advertised as a Czech pils.

Straw color color and clear. Moderate head but little lace.

Grainy pale barley dominates the smell.

The taste is not as awful as I expected which is to say it's more flavorful than the typical macro. It starts with pale malt with nearly no graininess. Light hop but notable. The body is appropriate for the style.

Crystal clear, light yellow body; fizzy carbonation; thick, soapy head. Light malt scent; grassy; mildly herbal. Mild cereal grain flavors; hop bitterness starts near the middle and lingers nicely at the finish of each sip. Medium body; crisp and clean; smooth on the palate.

A very fine, well-rounded pilsner from Croatia. Then, too, other reviewers claim this is more along the lines of a pale European lager. Regardless, this beer exhibits classic Czech/German pilsner qualities.

500ml bottle - wow, it's been a coon's age since we last saw this Croatian offering in Alberta, back about a decade or so ago when I chugged a few of these at the behest of that uber-sexy blonde waitress at Metro Billiards. Or something.

This beer pours a clear, bright pale golden yellow colour, with three fingers of puffy, rocky, and somewhat bubbly dirty white head, which leaves some bleeding paint swath lace around the glass as it quickly blows off.

It smells of gritty and grainy pale malt, further wet cereal notes, a bit of pear and apple fruitiness, weak Euro gasohol, and some grassy, herbal, and dank floral green hop bitters. The taste is bready and crackery pale malt, more damp breakfast cereal, muddled pome fruity esters, subtle hints of petrol, and more understated leafy, dead grassy, and musty floral 'verdant' hoppiness.

The carbonation is quite active in its palate-pinging frothiness, the body a so-so medium weight, and sort of smooth, as an uncertain acridity takes more than a minor tithe here. It finishes off-dry, the base malt keeping things moving along, while the meek fruity and hoppy essences fade into the ether.

Overall, this is hardly an exemplary version of the proclaimed style, as the hops just seem to be dialing it in, and the general crispness factor is damned near nil. Not all that hard to drink, mind you, but more as a simple Euro Pale Lager, and not the headier Czech-style Pils, IMHO.

I have never had a beer from Croatia, so I picked this one up just to try it. It is a golden-yellow color with a tall white head. A little haze in the liquid. The aroma has a bit of sulfur, light hops, and grass. The taste is lightly sweet and has a middle-range bitterness. It is a typical, maybe sub-par, Euro-lager. Light, a bit of sharpness in the finish. Forgettable.

My sis brought this beer back from the last family rebellion. It poured a clear golden with white head that is not leaving any lace. The scent is grainy. The taste is nicely balanced and easy to drink. It's a solid standard euro pils. The Mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it's a good beer and worth a try.

500 ml can served cold into a pint glass. Purchased for about $2.15 from the local LCBO. I do believe this is my first beer from Croatia. It also happens to be my 1,000th unique beer, however, not my 1,000th review. Saving something more special for that,

Appearance - Crystal clear, pale golden straw color. Small weak half finger of head is poured with modest retention. Some lively bubbles of varying sizes.

Smell - Clean and fairly grain with a subtle sweetness that is too much for a Czech pilsner. Light grassy notes are relatively hidden. Some starnge malty sweetness in here too.

Taste - Fairly clean, lacking the hop bite of the best pilsners. Drinks more like a Euro pale Lager. Some graininess.

Mouthfeel - Expressive but moderate carbonation. light body. Easy to drink.

Overall - A decent beer that won't blow anyone away. Better than some pale lagers but doesn't hold a candle to the best pilsners.

Pours a clear, gold colour. Smells like lager/pilsner yeast, light pale malts, crisp, and clean. Tags a bit heavier than it smells, but light overall, pale malts, basic lager/pilsner flavours and bitterness; not much to it, but it's crisp and refreshing, perfect for the Croatian heat!

Poured mine into a lager mug. Pours a nice pale golden yellow color, with a thin foam head that sits.

Smells skunky with a watery smell, similar to a Euro Pale Lager.

Tastes like an average Euro Pale Lager, with water. Wouldn't say it's watery but the flavor is on the weak side.

Feels thin, almost watery, low carbonation. Easy to drink but not much to it. Besides its color.

Overall this is my second Czech Pilsner in two days and this one doesn't taste anything like the other, it's a Euro Pale Lager.

Probably one of the worst beers you can find in Europe. It reminds me more of a cider than a beer. Very watery with absolutely no depth of flavour. The scent is very sweet, again, like a cider. This might be great while lounging on a beach in split but it does not work anywhere else.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a light to medium golden amber with a fizzy half finger white head that dissipates quickly to patches with little lacing. Massive skunking on opening the bottle. Aroma of sweet bready malt, light grassy hops, skunk. Flavor is sweet bready malt with some light biscuit, light grassy hops, finishes drier with a lingering mildly astringent hop bitterness. Light bodied with active carbonation. One of the most skunked beers I've ever had, so trying to evaluate the base beer underneath. The initial taste is pleasant light bready malt with a little graininess and biscuit, but not strong enough to support what's left of the hops which seem to be just bitter with little herbal nature. Skunky and fizzy, there does seem to be a light, pleasant pilsener in there somewhere. Meh. As my first Croatian beer, I hoped it would a better introduction.

Crystal clear golden color with a thin cap that remains throughout the beer. Earthy and floral hops in the nose with a distinguishable cracker like malt aroma. Grassiness comes through in the taste and a well balanced pleasant bitterness throughout. Medium bodied with a nice roundness and moderate carbonation.

Mentor Family Foods (I call it "family feud") is a little independent grocery near here that always has some oddball Croatian food and beverages hidden here and there. I went a lookin and I turned up this.

It looks nice in the glass. A deep golden with fair head that subsides quickly. Biggish bubbles. The aroma is a nice finishing hops smell.

The taste is a balanced, slightly hoppy beer taste. It's dry and very authentic tasting. This is a very easy drinking beer that does not insult your palate. One could drink a few of these. It's not very expensive, so this is a nice novelty - an authentic old world beer from halfway around the globe.
