I lived 10 minutes from this place for a year before I even knew it existed, and a buddy told me how jealous he was of me being close by. I went over to check it out, and I rarely buy beer anywhere else now.

The selection is incredible; I'm constantly trying new things. The guys and gals working there are outstanding and have never gone wrong with any suggestions I've gotten, and they can always point out exactly where to find anything I'm looking for.

Great store all around, and if I ever move from the area, the worst part about that will be not being so close to this place.

I was in Dalton and had hit the beer stores in the area and a fellow BA recommended this place to me. It is about a 20 minute drive and when you pull in it is back in the corner of a shopping center.

When I walked in a was immediately greeted and asked if I needed anything or if they could help me find a beer I was looking for. I browsed the huge beer inventory and tried to keep mental notes to go back and get certain beers, needless to say I wound up going back again to get some I forgot. There were several people working and one guy after I had found the stuff I know about walked with me and helped me pick out some local stuff he though I would like.

They also have a growler fill station with a great selection, very knowledgeable people I also liked that in the back they have a small cellar with some good stuff.

This is an amazing place and will be my go to when I am in town.

I never leave without spending 100 bucks or more. Easily the best store in the area and would rival stores I've seen in some of the largest cities in the U.S. Love the vintage cellar.

GREAT PLACE!!! I feel like a kid in an adult beverage store... BEWARE: It's easy to drop a ton of money quickly if you're not careful. Not because they are overly priced, but because everywhere you turn there is something worth giving the ole "college try!" They handle everything from beer, the proper glass for it, and all the way to getting into brewing your favorite style yourself (my next big adventure). They even have a section for wine... just in case anyone riding with you doesn't understand BEERY GOODNESS! They thought of EVERYTHING!!!!

I can imagine this is the go to place in the Chattanooga area, especially since Georgia has much better distribution than Tennessee. I was skeptical when I pulled up to the store because the location is not great, but the inside of the store is clean and well-organized, while the staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. They also have about 8-10 beers on tap with some great options such as Founders and Terrapin. I have made repeat visits to this store looking for beers that may no longer be available in the Atlanta market and will continue to track their business when I travel between Atlanta, Knoxville, and Nashville.

This is the best place in the Chatt. area to get some great beers. Service is good and they are always more than willing to help you out with any questions you might have. They are also very friendly. I try to make a monthly trip to stock up on some good stuff.

Great place to go. I am wanting to try some of the different styles of beers and I know this place will help me out. I have always wanted to try the home brewing also so I will work toward getting the stuff for that and they have all that here. Mitul does a great job at this store and I wish him all the luck with the mess in Fort O right now. If you want good service and good prices go here. Its worth the trip. He will do you right!!

If you live in the Chattanooga/NW Georgia area and haven't been to Beverage World, you've slept on this place long enough. Stop what you're doing right now and get there as fast as you can. By far the biggest & highest quality selection in the area. The store being in GA gives them a HUGE advantage over the Chattanooga stores.

Everything is arranged mostly by style. They also have two big coolers. One is full of standard domestic & imports. The other is full of all craft beer including a door full of IPAs which is HUGE for me. I love being able to grab a chilled IPA vs one that could've been sitting on the shelf unchilled for months. They also have a cellar with a glass door displaying a few shelves of vintages which are pretty regularly rotating, awesome! They have a mix-a-six rack of singles and you get a 10% discount on a mixed sixer. They have a 20-tap growler station and will soon be allowed to start offering up to three 1 oz. samples per day to each customer. In the back corner they have a small homebrew section which they are building up. They have a nice selection of glassware and give a free glass with a $100 craft beer purchase. Last time I got one the free glass was the etched DFH glass, very nice. They also carry a decent amount of Champagne and wine.

The staff is very friendly and the main dude Sam is very knowledgeable. They update their facebook more often than their website. They post all their new arrivals and every new keg they tap on their facebook page. They also do a good job of rationing out low volume shipments to allow as many people as possible to get some.

They typically have everyone in the area beat on price. I've only noticed them get beat on price a couple times.

Go there! But beware no alcohol sales on Sunday. You can still buy homebrew supplies on Sunday though.

I made my first trip yesterday to Beverage World to seek out some great beers. I had read other reports on this store and decided to make the approximately 1 hour drive to stock up. What I found was an incredible selection, an extremely helpful staff, great beer knowledge and service beyond expectations. They even threw in 3 specialty glasses. The on tap selections to fill my growlers were just superb. Prices are reasonable. I normally drive about 35 minutes to Chattanooga to buy my beer and fill my growlers but now that I have visited Beverage world I will drive the extra 25 minutes or so to get the most amazing selection of World Class beer. Simply exceptional.

This is the best place to find craft beer in and around the chattanooga area. Hands Down. Its in a small little shopping center, and with the recent expansion, its become a great beer market.

The service is great, the guys there really know their beer, and are always bringing in new stuff and working hard to try and get rare finds.

The selection is definitely the best I have seen at a store since I moved to chattanooga 5 years ago. Founders readily available, port brewing/lost abbey, and good import selection as well. 20 taps for growler fills with new kegs constantly rotating in. And they are doing some aging now as well.

Prices are fine, I have seen alot of good deals there for some normally more expensive stuff. Like founders six packs for 10 bucks, and there growlers are generally pretty afordable as well.

Overall, this is one of my favorite stores that I have been to, and am constantly impressed by what they are bringing in.

Beverage World is the beer geeks mecca! They have up to 20 taps for growler fills, and offer both full and half growlers. Many of these taps are rare, hard to find items on draught. Today I got 1/2 growlers of Port Older Viscosity and Mikkeller 1000IBUs. Pretty awesome! The staff is kind, helpful, and really shared my passion for excellent brews. They fill their growlers with a device that removes residual air and then seal it with a heat seal to keep it nice and fresh. Their non-growler selection is impeccable, with beers from all over the world, and TONS OF THEM! They have a bunch of singles as well of more obscure beers so you can mix and match a six of stellar beers from all over. I really felt like a kid in a candy store. I haven't been this excited about buying things in a long time. A MUST SEE FOR ANY BEER GEEKS!!!

YES!! This place is a diamond in the rough. Down on a little country road where you want to drive about 55 down, but DON'T because I passed to cops just posted on the side of the road "chillin". Yea the speed limit is 40, and if you are an out of stater like me it will catch you off guard if you don't watch it. That's because it's nestled inside a shopping center.

When I pulled up I knew I was going to be in heaven because I've been following them on twitter and whatnot. So I grabbed my shopping cart, and began my quest with a very limited amount of time. First went to the Belgian section and holy cow did they have a nice selection there. Tons and tons of very nice Belgium brews. Lots of Mikkeller, and plenty of sours which I shouldn't but didn't snatch any. Then I noticed some of the Cali brews,Bruery, Lagunitas, etc . Really nice east coast selection, from: Allagash, Clipper City, Great Divide, Bells, Founders, Weyerbacher, Hoppin Frog, and obviously I could go on and on but I don't feel like it.

All and all this place was awesome, and I will be back for sure, even though its over 2 hours away. Great prices, great selection, nice glasses, tons of good beers on draft, and mix yo six fool. Shit I miss this place already =(

I discovered Beverage World a few years ago through a fellow friend. I went with her one day, my jar dropped and I was drooling. I live right over the state line in Tennessee so we do not get most of the stuff they do. Needless to say, I was very excited. I dropped WAY too much money that day (my fault) and go back usually every week or two. Sam is a very nice guy. Very knowledgable of his products and always on the up and up on releases and news. I have literally never been let down by a recommendation from him. They have recently expanded with a growler station...with TWENTY taps. From day one that I heard the news of the expansion, it seemed like it would never happen...but it did and it is great. So far they have a had a nice wide selection of brews which are reasonably priced. I look forward to what they will have in the future. They also now have a cellar and are going to be carrying home brew supplies, which is great. All in all Beverage world is my home away from home when I can make the short trip. If it was not for them, a lot of brews would have never made it into my hands. Thanks guys!!!

I deleted my review from 3 or so years ago in order to re-review this store. For the record my old review gave them an A - , but with all the changes as of late, it needed to be re-done.

What was once a just a tobacco mart that was making an effort to carry craft beers, is now a must stop place for any craft beer enthusiast. They have added many changes:

1. They hired Sam. A fellow BA (elgiacomo), this guy really knows his stuff. He started a facebook page for Bev World ( and updates it almost daily with any new arrivals, brews on sale, etc. He does a better job of this than any other store I know of. He makes an effort to get to know every customer that comes in and the styles they prefer. A true beer advocate.

2. They recently expanded into the attached space next door to include 20 TAPS FOR GROWLER FILLS - YES 20!!!1 They also have something like 10 dedicated coolers for the craft brews now, so almost if not all of it stays cold constantly. Nice. They are going to be selling homebrewing supplies there as well, which is huge as there are zero HBS shops in Chattanooga, Ft. O, or anywhere close by. As a homebrewer I'm really stoked about this.

3. Build a craft beer 6 pack. Ok, other stores do this as well, but they don't have the choices Bev World has (not even close) and BW gives you an additional 10% off the singles price when you buy 6. I can't think of anyone else that does that.

4. It's a small family owned business and it shows. You will no doubt meet the owner and his family at some point and they are always happy to help and very polite. I prefer places like this over chain stores every time.

So from an A- to an A+ and for good reason. I pass up numerous beer/liquor stores in Chattanooga/Hixson to make the quick trip to Ft. O to go to Beverage World and you should too.

The best bottle shop anywhere near Chattanooga. Period. I've been here a dozen or more times, and it's been a great experience each time. Sam clearly takes a lot of pride in what he does, and shows. The selection is outstanding: Founders, Bell's, Port, Great Divide, Terrapin, DFH, Smuttynose, Avery... the list goes on and on. All the big Belgians are here too.Quality is never an issue because any beers getting a little long in the tooth get placed on a well-marked discount rack. Prices seem reasonable, and there's a discount for mixed sixes.

What really sets Beverage World apart is Sam. Incredibly knowledgable, always willing to talk, and very good at making recommendations. Unlike the big box stores (Total Wine), Sam keeps the low-end crap off the shelf. They've even got ratings below most of the beers.

The store is a little cramped, but their expansion is almost complete and is looking great. This morning they told me that it would be about another week. The star of the expansion is the growler fill - 20 taps!

I've run into regular customers coming from as far away as Huntsville. It's definitely worth seeking out. Highly recommended!

Knowing I was going to be headed to the Chattanooga area this past weekend for a wedding, I did some homework months before regarding good craft-selling stores in the area. Beverage world seemed like the consensus among those familiar with the area, so I set my sights on it, and I am very glad I did.

Beverage World is housed in an unassuming shopping center/strip mall type place. From the outside, it looks a little smaller than it actually is, although it is still on the smaller side (they are actually in the midst of more than doubling their size due to the renovation next door). The selection is VERY pleasing however. I won't get into it here - you can follow them on Facebook and see pretty much their entire selection. The owner and employees know their beer. They are also on top of the freshness-awareness-when-needed game. This really impressed me, as the places here in Louisville will let IPA sit for many years, for example. You won't find that here. As soon as things get near a best-before date, they move them to a shelf of discounted beer that needs to go soon. Good stuff.

I entered the store and started filling boxes with bottles, and the 2 Indian gentleman were quick to help me get things boxed up much better than I was doing. One even gave me a little tour of the renovation/expansion they are doing.
I then met the guy I believe was the owner - he was wearing a BA shirt. Cool. I can't remember his name, though. He was also very knowledgeable and friendly. So friendly, in fact, that he gave me a 5$ discount for buying so much, AND threw in a free Dogfish Head glass. He then proceeded to help carry the boxes out to my cousin's truck.

Great selection + great staff + reasonable prices + great business practices = great store. Don't pass this place up if you're in the area.

This place, is an absolute gem. A real diamond in the rough.

The town of Ft. Oglethorpe is not beer central. I couldn't even tell you the closest production brewery (Terrapin maybe?). It looks very much like a small country city where the economy has taken a hard dump.

And then, there's Beverage World.

Tucked beside a Food Lion and a Big Lot's, on the outside Beverage World looks like a slightly junky lotto ticket, tobacco and cheap beer store. Even once you step inside, the first impression will be slightly dim as the front of the store is mostly crap.

Take 8 steps though, and you walk into Beervana. Everything imaginable that you can get in the area: Stone, Great Divide, Founders, Port/LostAbbey, Smuttynose, Duck Rabbit, the list goes on and on. The place appears to be organized by brand. They have a great mix six shelf, as well as some coolers filled with things.

And most of all, fantastic help. I spotted a worker there sporting a BeerAdvocate shirt and knew who to talk too immediately. His name was Sam, and not only was he willing to show me some rarities and pull some things from the back stash for me, he was extremely knowledgeable about beer and could talk about the culture.

Honestly, My expectations were low. But even knowing of the A+ rating this place had here on BA, I was blown away. Incredible service, value, and selection. Can't say enough about Beverage World besides I wish it was closer!

Some good news is they are soon expanding to a much larger and re-innovated area beside them. This place may soon be the absolute best beer store in the SouthEast, and competitive across the globe.

By far the best beer selection in the Chattanooga area because of the distribution laws that differ between Tn and Ga... this Ga store has much more to offer than any tn location for craft beer... a huge selection of eveything from tons of Germans to Brooklyn Lager to Hoppin Frog, Bell's, and every brewery under the sun. The high grav selection is absolutely amazing!

They're growing quickly but hiring a lot of new help to answer question you may have.

The store is hidden from the main road it's off of(Ringgold Rd. between Chatt and Ft. Oglethorpe)... in the Food Lion Parking lot just before you get to 2A hwy, on the rt).

Other beer.... Young's Dbl Choco, Terrapin, marble, sammy smiths, avery, ayinger, hoppin frog,... too many to list... 2 times the selection of their closest local competitor....

LATE EDIT 9-13-11
Beverage World's growing popularity has enabled the store to expand and offer growlers with some great selections on tap.... this store is reaping the rewards of being the only truly great beer specialty shop in the chatt,tn area...

on tap was allagash white, paulaner hefe, 3 or 4 dogfish offerings, some brooklyn offerings and much much more. Beverage world is your one stop shop. Prices are reasonable - they don't gauge the public just because they have what others do not.

Great ownership, great employees... worth going out of your way. only slight gripe is that with access to all these great brews I wish some better dark offerings were on tap.

A pretty good sized place located just barely in the state of Georgia. There were actually 2 entrances, one saying Beverage World and the other Tobacco for Less. I was on a road trip from Boston to New Orleans. I called ahead mainly looking for Duck Rabbit, I spoke with the beer manager and he just told me what they had in stock.

I arrived and did a couple of quick laps around the show room. The manager found me and asked if I needed Help, I told him I had called and he informed me that he was the one I spoke to. and he got me a couple of boxes to put the six packs in. I ended up getting a case of Duck Rabbit, (2 Baltic Porters and 2 Barleywines). He didn't have a whole lot in stock, he said there was more on the way, unfortunately it was a bad time to be looking for Duck Rabbit, but I glad to get some.

The selection overall was really good. All of the heavy hitters were there and full stock (Stone, Rogue, Sam Adams, Seirra Nevada ect.) But there were also some other breweries that weren't very big, Smuttynose, Bell's, New Belgium Avery and so on. A good selection from the midwest and all down the east coast. What impressed me the most is how much from each brewery they had, it runs deep. There was a refrigerated section and a room temp section both close to equal in size. There was also a good selection of beer glasses in the back.

All in all it's a pretty good place to check out. I would definitely go back if I was in the area again, not too likely but I hope to if Duck Rabbit never comes to MA.

The manager was pretty nice too, he informed me the place was expanding which is good for them, I'm not surprised, I hope they do well.

You're cheating yourself if you're a beer lover and you skip out on this place.

I heartily second everything that has been said. BW has the best selection I've personally ever seen and I know it's definitely the best in the Chattanooga area. Sam knows more about beer than pretty much anyone I know and he stands ready to answer any and all questions you can throw at him. With the recent rush for Hopslam, he managed to get several cases and a few kegs despite the short stick that Georgia got in terms of distribution. An expansion could only make that which is perfect, even better. Cheers!

Sam has turned this store into the craft beer hotspot for the greater Chattanooga area. The selection is amazing and very well organized (especially for such a small store). Beer ratings are posted all over the place (even some from BA) and Sam is incredibly helpful in offering his insight to customers.

The mix 6 pack deal is unbeatable with a great variety of high-grave and low-grav singles and an automatic 10% discount for a full 6.

I have high hopes for the future of this business. Word on the street says that they're moving next door to a much bigger facility. We can only hope!

After purchasing all of my specialty beer from Beverage World for the past year or so I figured it's time to give them the props they deserve.

Where to start. . .
Upon pulling up to Beverage World you'll probably be a bit taken back, the store does not look like one that holds an arsenal of fantastic beers - so don't let that throw you off! All of the craft beers are located in the very back of the store but before you precede to beer haven I recommend asking for Sam (the beer purchaser & wealth of knowledge). If you're new to beer, or even if you're not, ask Sam any and every question that you have - he's been extremely helpful in broadening my knowledge of all things beer. So huge thumbs up for the great staff.

As for the quality of beer they have a wide assortment of breweries from east to west coast. Off the top of my head in regards to mainstream... Southern Tier, DFH, Stone, Victory, Left Hand, Founders, Sweetwater, Bells, Terrapin, Hoppin' Frog, and many more not so main stream breweries. Also a wide selection of Belgian's (many Trappists). All of their beers are kept fresh and in large quantities. Beverage World also started carrying a good variety of glassware and variety packs that you can't find anywhere else close-by.

All in all this is a MUST stop for anyone in the Chattanooga or North GA area. I can guarantee you won't find a better selection. Expect even better things from Bev. World in the future as they made the shortlist just recently to receive many more special releases from their distributor.

Cheers to Beverage World - can't say enough good things about them! Also check out their Facebook page for release dates and new arrivals:

Went there to look around, but also got some beer there too. the selection is most impressive compared to anything in the area that I know of. (including riverside in Chattanooga) The beer that I checked for the dates codes were fairly new I know this place stays busy.

Only cons I can think of are I didn't get a bag to put my beer in (couldn't even ask the cashier was on the phone)

The above was a one time situation, their selection is great and they have the service to go along with it. Very attentive staff.

Not sure if it could be considered a con the build your sixer selection was freaking huge, I mean big.. Not sure how quickly it would be rotated out.

So far the best beer store I've seen in the area. I will go here again.

I stopped by this place on my way to Blue Ridge, GA for vacation. Unfortunately, I did not have too much time to peruse the store as I was on a mission to buy only Southeastern beers. Immediately I was greeted Sam?, who was very informative and helpful. I picked up some Sweetwater IPA, Terrapin Ryes, and a bunch of Terrapin singles. I wish I had more time to browse and pick up more stuff, but I was already in the car for 10 hours at this point with another 2 ahead of me.

Quick notes - awesome staff (I got a free t-shirt as I checked out), great selection - a bunch of Terrapin, Sweetwater, Stone, Founders (still had backwoods Bastard on the shelf), DFH, Rochefort, and a bunch of others. I will say that they didn't have anything from TN, which slightly disappointed me being that TN is a couple of minutes away. All of these were listed at reasonable to low prices (as compared to prices of similar beer in Blue Ridge). Definitely worth stopping by if you are in th area.
