Great selection, with quite a few sold-out-elsewhere options still on the shelves. Unfortunately, they're likely still in stock due to the higher bottle prices across the board. Worth visiting if you can't find something elsewhere and don't mind spending a couple extra dollars.

Was amazed that the guys behind the counter seemed to know the names of all of the customers visiting during the lunch hour. Friendly service brings the rating up a solid quarter of a point here.

When we first moved to Michigan, we lived about a half mile away from here, so we would frequent it quite often. From the outside it seems like your typical Michigan party store, but once you’re inside, you find quite the selection of craft.

The first two thirds of the store are taken up with liquor and other packaged food items. The final third, against the far back wall, is where the beer lives. They have two five foot high, black wire shelved aisles for beer, with an L-shaped cooler against the wall, concealing a modest walk-in cooler, sheltering all of the cooled BMC. Otherwise you have a great selection of singles and sixes of mainly Michigan locals, but with a lot of your other heavy hitters, like Stone, Southern Tier, Rogue, etc. While their selection, overall, is really nice, what makes it great is the fact that nobody really knows about this place, because they get a lot of the coveted seasonal releases like Black Note, Hopslam, and Bourbon County, but they tend to last for days, rather than seconds, as they do at some of the bigger shops around. I remember when Southern Tier put out Warlock, and people were fighting hand over fist to snag a bottle. I’m pretty sure this place still has some bottles right there on the shelf. Just as an example. This is by no means always the case, but we’ve noted it to have happened a couple times at this point. As far as value, their prices do tend to be higher than a lot of other local places.

The staff is happy and friendly, and it seems like it’s a family business. The usual cashiers are younger gentleman, and they are usually decently knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to the craft, or when something might be coming in. All in all, this is a nice place to stop if you want something local, or if you’re close and need something cold on your way to a party, but it just isn’t quite up there with the local Royal Oak beer “musts”.
