I stopped back in here because the last time I was here was before my eyes were on craft beers. My ex used to live in University Village and she became known as "The Keystone Girl"...

Its just a little crappy looking liquor store at the end of a shopping plaza. The typical covering of lottery and cigarette signs adorn the windows. Through the door you can see a couple shelves of wine, this is a glimmer of hope, in Columbus, where there's wine, there is usually some beer.

The beer is in the coolers along the back. Mostly six pack of all the typical stuff, but some a little less typical. Lots of Heavy Seas, DFH, CBC, Victory, Thirsty Dog, Bell's and all that. There is a smaller cooler at the end with bombers. I was pleasantly surprised to see this even though the selection is small. Its mostly Stone and Lindemans. They had Stone 14 which was nice and showed that they actually get new stock in.

This place isnt worth a special trip really, but it is awesome if you live in University Village or somewhere else near by.

This is one of those places that really isn't much to look at. One would never think that that this is a place that has an actual selection of craft brews. I have passed by it hundreds of times and never thought to stop in and take a look. Since I saw a review posted I thought I would give it a try. It's apparent, as soon as you walk in, that organization is not a strong point in this store. The beer is in coolers on the left hand side of the store. The craft selection is towards the back and takes up about 6 coolers. Some brewers that are represented are: Medocino, Pyramid, Columbus Brewing, Stoudts, Avery, Bells, Great Lakes, Magic Hat, and Victory. The import selection is moderate and includes brews from Peroni, Paulaner, and Belhaven. In the back right of the store there are two coolers that have a singles section and a cooler of larger bottles (750's and 22's). Among the cooler of larger bottles I saw Stone, Green Flash, and Avery. Service is pretty much on par with other stores that I have been to. As I shopped around no one really asked me any questions or tried to help me but I don't usually require any assistance. Now, the quality should probably be noted. I did notice brews for sale that were 5-7 months out of season. For some selections that is not a problem but not for the ones that I noticed in this store. Granted, if you are looking for something that is just out of season, there is a good chance this store will have it. Not bad overall but the age of some of what I saw was just a bit disappointing.

Rick's looks like a stop-n-rob cigarette and lotto store. But, being named Rick myself and into Beverages, I thought I'd stop in after work several months ago. I was shocked and amazed. Now, it's a regular stop for me after payday.

Tonight I swung by to get my wife a six of Victory Golden Monkey - they always, ALWAYS have Golden Monkey. I also picked up a sixer of Great Lakes Christmas Ale for us both, an Arrogant Bastard and a Double Bastard just for me.

The guy working the checkout always compliments me on my beer selection, and seems to understand the, um, potency of some of the bigger beers, but we've never really talked about beer that much.

Nonetheless, I find beers there that have disappeared from my other Columbus stops. I could grab a few seasonals long after they had disappeared.

It's worth a stop. You won't find anything too exotic there, but you'll find a damn solid selection: Stone, Great Lakes, Bells (alot of Bells), Sierra Nevada (lots and lots ... Bigfoot stays in the cooler a long time), Victory (really just the Monkey for sure), and a nice selection of mix and matches. And the price is just as good (or bad) as anywhere.
