This place is a great if you want to pay WAAAAY more than you need to. After their last 40% price increase, they won’t see another penny from me!!

Tracked this place down while in town for the day and glad I did. This is basically a beer store so it has your typical Macros but mostly has micors/craft/local brews that I just cant find back in WV. It seams that PA beer laws are a little odd so you can only get the beer in as small as a 12-pack. Definitely not a make your own 6-pack kind of place. Anyways, they have a great selection of craft brews so its worth the stop.

I should have been the first person to review Bellevue beer as it has been my go-to store since it opened (when I'm home). The store is clean, well lit and well organized. There is a computer with the browser opened to Beer Advocate right up front.
As for the quality, there is a good selection of Craft beer that includes most of the PA breweries and larger craft breweries with a few more thrown in. A lot of the craft cases they only seem to stock a few of, especially seasonals, which is actually a good thing because they are always selling fresh beer. They have a decent selection of Belgians and some Germans also.
The service is always good at bellevue beer. The first time I walked in and wandered around, they readily showed me a binder of all the beer they are able to order, and offered to special order anything I might want. On subsequent visits they have done the same thing. Anytime I ask for something and they don't have it, they offer to order it for me if they can, which in my mind justifies a small bump when it comes to selection.
My favorite part of Bellevue Beer is the prices. Case prices in the Pittsburgh area, especially of Craft beer, are exactly the same almost everywhere I go. However, Bellevue is routinely 1-3 dollars cheaper per case. I'm not really sure how they do it actually.
Also, someone there is obviously a BA member, although not an extremely active one. You'll notice they actually have a beer list on this site, which is rare. That list isn't updated often, but from looking at it, it is fairly trustworthy.

This is a great distributor to buy craft beer. They have a nice variety of micros, Belgians, etc. Lots of Dogfish Head abd Weyerbacher which are amoung my favorites.
The place has a large open floor that feels like a garage. It is very clean and well lit.
They have a computer in the craft beer section with Beer Advocate queued up. They encourage the customers to look up the beers that they stock to see if it is for them. They are also ready to make special orders for you.
The prices are reasonable. Lots of parking and good hours.

A buck or two more expensive than a lot of other places in Pittsburgh. The best part of this store is they have computers in the craft beer section that have beer advocate as their homepage so you can look stuff up before you purchase it - a big plus in a state where you buy by the case! Service ranges from poor to great, depending on who is working when you go. The only drawback is that the craft beer selection is too small to have more than one or two different cases from each brewery they stock, so while they have a wide range of brewers represented, the number of different beers from each brewer is extremely limited. If you're driving by it's worth a stop, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get there.

Not the absolute best place to buy beer, but if you are unfamiliar with Pennsylvania law, you probably don't realize how restrictive the state is with regards to alcohol distribution. Beer can ONLY be bought by the case at a distributor (or by the six pack at a bar), so here in PA we are limited. Many distributors carry limited supplies of microbrews, so this one has to rate pretty highly, since it carries a decent selection, especially of northeastern brewing companies: Trailhead (VT), Brooklyn (NY), Dogfish Head (DE), Victory and Troegs (PA) can be found here, as well as many others. Still looking for them to stock Troegs Nugget Nectar, but I'm just glad I have a place that sells something other then Miller Lite, Coors Light, and Heineken. I almost always stop here when I am on my way home from a trip into the city.
