One of my favorite beers of all time. Ric did a fantastic job with this big oaky brew. Something to certainly warm your weary bones, but only in moderation or the pain it will impart later...well, you know. This malty Belgian with lots of oak and bourbon notes(thus the name), made the trip to Stewart's worth my while. I also tasted it with sour cherries added which imparted a nice tart finish. Do it again Ric!!!

The Bourbathalon is a version of Stewart's Decathalon Belgian Strong soaked in Jim Beam barrells. It has a rich taste in which the alcohol (13.3%) came through less strongly than you'd expect, partly because a cherry taste (think the cherries on top of a sundae, sweet and candy-like) tempered the potency nicely. The result was highly drinkable, especially for a beer of this style. It was served in a 5oz wine glass that set me back $5.50. Well worth the price. I sipped slowly, not just because of the ABV, but also because the flavor was complex and invited me to spend time savoring each sip. I highly recommend trying this one before it's gone.
