Crystal clear straw yellow body with a soapy 1 1/2 finger white head that leaves nice lacing.
A simple but lovely aroma of fresh bread with floral, spicy noble hops greets the nose.
The taste is a little bready, a little doughy with hints of grain. The hops are a good balance for the malt with an even spiciness with floral notes. A bit of husk shows itself in the middle.
Medium body with a soft and delicate mouth feel with moderate carbonation.

This beer makes me happy.

20OZ Stein poured on tap

A: Crystal clear body with a dirty gold almost amber body. The head was huge and creamy looking.

S: Bright floral hops lead the way with nice toasted grains and some doughy bready malts.

T: Very bright tasting the floral hops really lead the way giving way to some nice light toasted malts and a fine crisp bready finish.

M: Light crisp wih just the smallest cling on the tongue in the finish, finishes fairly dry as well.

O: This is a fantastic pilsner, easy drinking with great flavor.

11.2 oz bottle, best before 11/2017. Served in a tumbler glass. Amber glass bottle.

Appearance: Clear gold. Thin white skin of foam that died back quickly. Some occasional islands of lacing noted.

Smell: Clean. Hint of noble hops.

Taste: Strong noble hop flavor. Crisp with a cracker like malt. Hits the German pilsner style very well.

Mouthfeel: Good carbonation, but a little sticky on the teeth.

Overall / Drinkability: A good pilsner and quite drinkable. Went well with snack food at a reception (cheese, crackers) and I think would pair well with a lot of other food. Quite a bit more bitter than other German pilsners I've had, but that's because it has a good strong noble hop flavor. I could easily have a full half liter of this beer.

Poured from bottle into tulip, 1 finger cream colored head, recedes after a minute, nice lacing. Bright clear golden in the glass. Smells of noble hops, some herbal, grassy notes, some malt hanging around in there. Taste is slightly spicy on the front, some grassy, lemon taste in the middle with some minor malt sweetness and a crisp, slightly dry finish. Nice beer for the summer, easy on the palate and easy on the belt and has enough personality to keep it interesting.

Pours clear, gold in color with beautiful one inch head. Smells really fresh. Taste is grain, grass, and cereal. Earthy, nice combination of sweet and bitter, light bodied and really drinkable. Overall a really impressive German pilsner. Glad I got several of these. Will get this again.

Found some of this locally with a decent best-by date of May 2017 -- and no more green bottle. I used to see Würzburger around all the time, but just like most of the imports -- not so much anymore. I first had this beer at the Würzburger Hofbräu proper on my first visit to Germany in 1990. A favorite beer for a favorite, beautiful town.

$8 six-pack of brown, 11.2 ounce bottles. Poured into my .3 liter Becher glass.

L -- Clear, deep golden with a dense and tall white head that sustains impressively.

S -- Light DMS and spicy hops up front with mellow breadiness back.

T -- Bready melanoidin malt up front with spicy, bitter noble hops in tow. The sweet breadiness lingers through the finish and the hops round off the aftertaste with herbal bitterness.

F -- Mouthfeel is soft up front to crisp and lightly dry in the finish with a medium light body.

O -- Anyone wanting to understand German Pilsner should find this beer fresh. It's hoppy and bitter, yet sweet and malty at the same time. Noble hops stand it out from most current "craft" renditions, but don't shy from assertiveness. I'll be looking for more of this one.

$ 2.31 (Including tax)/11.2 oz bottle ($ 0.206/oz) at State Line Liquors, Elkton, MD
BB 07/2016 at 42 degrees into a hand washed and dried JK snifter
Aroma – wet grain, light hops
Head average (Maximum three cm, aggressive pour), white, frothy, diminishing to an irregular three to four mm ring and thin partial layer. This lacks the dense, clinging head which is characteristic of pilsners, possibly due to not owning a pilsner glass into which to pour it.
Lacing poor – a couple of thin streaks and tiny islands of tiny to small bubbles
Body light straw, clear, slight effervescence
Flavor – begins crisp with some hop bitterness, well balanced with some malt sweetness. A hint of DMS comes through. No alcohol, no diacetyl.
Palate – light to medium, watery, lively carbonation

Actually not as bad as I recall: passable for a pilsner.
Appearance 3.5, Aroma 3.5, Flavor 3.75, Palate 4, Overall 3.75

Look- pours a straw colored and light golden with a fluffy white head and lace. The spritzy carbonation is visible.
Smell- mostly grassy with some sweet malt aroma.
Taste- the lightly toasted malts are sweet on the tongue and balanced by just enough hops presence. A slightly lemony and sweet and semi dry finish. Very flavorful.
Feel- light and crisp with soft carbonation.
A solid, simple but tasty, german pilsner that I would have anytime.
