This middle-of-the-road hefe- is good to introduce those who may have had a bad experience with an American brewer going into wheat styles and probably shouldn't have bottled it.
It takes skill to control this style, particularly its fruitiness (which I like big, but is not for everyone.)
MJ's 1999 "Guide" gave Julius Echter 2 of 4 stars and called it had "suggestions of sweet plums and mint toffee." I get the part about the plums.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours a hazy orange-yellow color with a one finger head of pure white foam. The head has a great level of retention, holding on for quite a long time before fading to leave a good showing of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the brew is strongest of a coriander and yeast with a strong showing of bready aroma. Along with these smells comes a rather potent clove smell along with some hints of a candied sugar and a bit of orange.

Taste – The taste begins with a nice clean bready taste mixed with a very yeasty and coriander flavor. The yeast and coriander grow even stronger as the taste advances and are joined by some other spice flavors of clove and some nutmeg. All the while, a light orange sweetness that is present upfront fades a bit, all while a light flavors of a candied sugar taste takes its place. In the end, with all the flavor transitions that occur and with a little bit of a doughiness and grassiness that develops on the tongue, one is left with a yeasty, and spiced bready taste to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel- The body of the brew is rather chewy for an only 5.3 % brew with a carbonation level that is on the slightly lower side. The thick body is rather nice for the bready and yeasty tastes and really accentuates them. A slightly higher carbonation may have made it slightly more refreshing, but even so, overall the feel was pretty well done.

Overall – A not too sweet, but bready and heavily spiced (especially coriander) hefe. I actually rather enjoyed this one.

Creamy delicacy poured from a $4.00 bottle. Classy. Immediate banana and cloves hit the nostrils, organic at that, mixed with some cream and very light pale malt. So much meshing together it's unbelievable. The feel is a perfect blend of ale and wheat, stealing the show like so many other classic hefe's. A great, very light bodied drink but with a certain carbonated fullness to it. Maybe a little too much, got me burping like a mofo. Lots of respect for the ale and would drink again. Have had before and it just goes to show I love this beer. Gets a little wheat heavy at the end but the yeast sediment has to flavor it somehow.

Bottle from Bin 201. Solid hefe, pours out a slightly hazy golden with nice fluffy head, which fades quickly. Normal aroma and flavors of bananas, bubblegum and clove. With a bit of a rockier head, and more sediment, this might have been better.

Poured into a pint glass a cloudy yellow gold with a thin head and light lacing. Very fragrant bready sweet smell. The taste is bready with banana and cloves with some peppery spice. A very nice beer!

Great beer. I tasted 12 like this one to find it. I used to get it by the case from Don. At the casino bar. In La Crosse, Wi. And share with my friends. Looks Golden clouded, Smells Great banana and A little fruit orange. Taste, Smooth and one of the best I have tried. Feels Great. I put 3 grains of long cook rice in it. I called the brewery to get some. And yes the Dean of University was behind the making of it.

Best by September 2015 enjoyed September 30, 2015 in a pilsner glass.

Look - Kept head contained with careful pour. Big bubbled white head. Clear golden body with a lot of carbonation flowing up. Good lacing.

Smell - Grass. Wheat. Lemon. Spice. Banana.

Taste - Crisp wheat. Spice. Malt.

Feel - Carbonation is not too overpowering. Sits well. No tongue damage whatsoever. Lighter beer so lighter feel.

Overall - These beers got me to try non macro light beers. Not my cup of beer now but have to reminisce sometimes.

Julius Echter Hefe-Weissbier Hell has an extremely thick, creamy bone-white head, an initially clear, bubbly golden appearance, which becomes milky opaque, once the bottom, caked, tan gunk is shaken and poured in. Lacing is splotchy. Aroma is of spiced bread, faint banana, faint coriander, and a whiff of smoke. Taste is the same, with bubble gum and a touch of lemon. Bitterness is not in play, here. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Julius Echter Hefe-Weissbier Hell finishes mostly dry and drinkable to the hilt.
