Had on tap at phoenix landing.

A cloudy yellow. Huge yeasty flavors. Very bready and sweet. Lots of phenols and funyness. Very sessionable. Nice creamy mouthfeel with high carbonation. One of the most authentic and flavorable hefs I've had. They do it right in germany.

Pours cloudy pale gold with a traditional egg-white three finger foam collar. This looks just dandy!

Nose is Bavarian banana combined with Topps trading card bubblegum. This is one wonderful yeast strain.

Entry is wiezen-smooth leading to a sweet, citrus/spicy midtaste which seems miles away from its American counterparts. The finish is banana heavy with a nice clove counterpoint.

This brew is now my new go-to hefe-weisse when weaning folks away from timid American counterparts...

Handsome hazy golden with thick white head, lots of yeast in the nose. Abundant wheat immediately quenches thirst, malts add a warm sweetness, and the hops add a tartness to the finish which still maintains the sweetness, drawn out nicely so you crave another sip. A solid basic hefe, with lively characteristics that keeps flavor dancing on your tongue. This is not as adventuresome as some others, and almost a little watery, but it is consistent and very satisfying. If you are still drinking your hefes out of a regular old pint glass, do yourself a favor and invest in a tall weissbier glass; your appreciation of the beer will double.

This Hefe flows a nice cloudy orange into my Hefeweizen glass. The head is nice semi-solid. Some lace that sticks to the glass.
Smells and tastes like a nice Hefe-Weiss....banana flavor comes right thru.
This may be my new favorite Hefeweizen. Delicious, summer beer. Enjoy with frisbee, friends, and possibly burgers on the grill.

I poured This beer from a bottle into a pint glass it had a 2 to 3 finger head that is white in color. The head is very fluffy/frothy and lasted a very long time. I thought there was minimal lacing for such a fluffy head. The color of the beer is a pale yellow/orange and the beer is cloudy. The aroma is of citrus, banana, and yeast. The taste of the beer was a little sour with notes of banana, wheat, and yeast with a very clean after taste. This is a very refreshing beer that would be a great session beer (I could drink this all day long) and perfect for summer. A classic weissbier!

Cloudy yellow-gold with an awesome initial head. Huge and rocky with excellent retention and patchy lacing.

Smells like spiced fruit and yeast. Some earthy malt.

Fruity and spicy as you'd expect with banana & clove. Some acidic citrus fruitiness like lemon or maybe a bit of pineapple.
Earthy yeast and a touch of grassy bitterness (very slight) in the finish with bready malt and a touch of alcohol warmth.

Feel is crisp, yet smooth and a touch creamy.

Overall this is probably the best Hefe out there for the money.

Appearance - Cloudy gold body with a white frothy head with decent retention and lacing.

Smell - Over ripe banana.

Taste - Astringent.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with full carbonation creaminess.

Overall - Good, but for the price you might as well get a Weihenstephaner or Paulaner.

This is the second of two Julius Echter beers I bought the other day. My first review of them was the dunkelweizen.

A steady pour revealed a highly carbonated beer. Opaque, dirty-yellow in color with a billowing white head on top. Good lace. The nose is rich with banana and lemon. Light spice and yeast smells are also present. Very nice. The taste is duller than I expected it to be, but still quite refreshing. Herbal earthen tones persist. Some pepper mixed in amidst the citrus. Mouthfeel is firm but fizzy with carbonation. A fine, steady balance.

This is a very nice beer. Not as lemony or as buttery as I like my hefeweizens, but still quite tasty. I especially like the pepper flavor this one delivers. And the aroma is delicious. A great brew for a hot summer day in a German biergarten. Would go nicely with a thick strudel or a rich pastry dessert.

500mL bottle, $2.99 from the Lebanon Co-op grocery. Poured cold into a chilled pint glass. Best by date: 2011/01.

Moderate pour gives a good 2" of dense and sticky ivory head that takes a few minutes to settle to drinkable level. Brew is a cloudy lemon yellow with a bit of visible carbonation. Leaves a few chunks of foam on the glass. Aroma is banana, clove, good creamy body of light malts and spicy wheat. Has a mild off-putting styrene note that fades as it breathes. Taste is similar to the smell but adds a mixed hop bite and lactose throughout. Finishes with mild pine and lemon hop plus a bit of styrene and butter. Mouthfeel is a bit fizzy (which yielded some mild belching) but still crisp and smooth.

Pours a beautiful hazy golden. Head is dense and white. Not super aromatic. May be hints of banana. There's definitely those banana and clove esters but it's a little cleaner than other hefes. A very nice beer for a hot day.

Appearance: Poured into a half liter weizen glass. The color is a cloudy, dirty dishwater orange. Three fingers of thick, white head dissipated to leave a fluffy cap and trails of foam on the glass.

Smell: Hefeweizen heavenliness. Banana, apple, clove, yeast, pepper, lemon, orange, and maybe a hint of bubblegum.

Taste: Bavarian to a tee. It has a thick, wheaty mouthfeel packed with flavors that mostly mirror the smell. Banana, apple, yeast, orange, and the hint of bubblegum. There is not as much clove, pepper, or lemon zest, but I will not complain.

Drinkability: It is good stuff — on par with other Bavarian greats. There is nothing orgasmic or special about it, but it is still high quality.

Interesting bottle -- 16.0 ounces, 1 US pint, not the normal 500 ml Euro-bottle (or 16.9 ounces).

Beautiful pour into my 23 ounce H-W glass, with a huge rocky white head that lasts okay and leaves minimal lacing. Cloudiest H-W I've seen, nearly opaque orange-amber. Really a lovely-looking beer.

Smell of orange and lemon, with clove and ginger, grass and ripening wheat.

Taste is missing most of the citrus notes so prevalent in the aroma. It's more wheat and grass, less clove and more ginger. A bit of pepper in the back of the throat. A bit of bitter hops aftertaste.

Mouthfeel is good, bit not as full as other H-W's. It has a fascinating dryness in the finish.

Exceptionally drinkable even for a H-W.

Overall, a fine example of a German Hefeweizen. Could stand more citrus in the taste, but pretty outstanding nonetheless.

Pours out a cloudy and hazy dark yellow. Nice thick white head, leaves thick web of lacing

Smell. Sweet banana and cloves. Smells as a good hefeweizen should..

Taste. . Lots of fruitiness and cloves. Taste is very fruity and slightly bitter and tart with bready/yeasty highlights.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied.

Overall this is a nice hefe.

A: pours cloudy yellow with a two finger head. tons of lacing.

M: smooth and light, carbonation is sort of high but not overly.
D: 0.5l goes down fast, i would imagine a full liter would to
