Poured a clear dark golden color with moderate white puffy head.
Smell is lightly maly with some mild citrus notes.
Taste starts off fruity sweet, but profound dryness quickly asserts itself.
The dryness quickly disappears, leaving a nice friuty texture at the end.
A nice easy drinking beer.

From 12oz bottle to Bruges hybrid glass on 5/29/12
*From notes

A: Clean ruby amber. A good pour yields a two finger head. Solid retention, lacing and a dense collar follow.

S: Bready, rustic grains. Not getting any hops or complexity. Just dark bread, and lots of it.

T: More malts. This is a very traditional take on the style. Plenty of medium char and grass, too. As it warms, I get a slightly off-putting vegetal quality to it, which really doesn't make for a great drinking experience.

M: Really great feel here. The depth of character and complexity makes up for some of the beer's big deficiencies. Thick, creamy and unexpectedly well put together.

O: Nowhere near the top of the style (see: Great Lakes Eliot Ness/Sam Adams Boston Lager/Devil's Backbone Vienna Lager). Not terrible, not great, just something to whet the palate on a warmer spring day. Not worth seeking out, though I'd quaff one if offered.

Poured a darkish red amber with a good amount of head that died slowly and left some lace. Textbook lager aroma of that dry hoppiness one seems to get, as well as minor sweet and caramel malt. Body is light to medium, little chewey while still maintaining an overall clean passing, hops make themselves noticeable and are balanced with minor sweetness. Beer finishes crisp and dry, thanks to some decent carbonation,
and while not a stand out beer it is a quality beer that you can't go wrong with.

Pours a dark amber into a pint glass. There is a significant head, and some froth stays on top of the drink for the the duration of my drink.

A- Really great aroma. Caramel, malt, and a nice hop presence as well.

T- A very nice mixture of sweet, caramel like malts, and English hops. I am aware that this brewery uses mostly British hops, so it might be something like Fuggles.

D- Very drinkable easily a sessionable beer.

For a lager, it has a wide range of flavors. It is neither too light nor too heavy in consistency. A really great lager from a great brewery.

Thanks to chaz over on realbeer for this. Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into my nonic Imperial pint glass. The lager appears a clear golden amber color with about two fingers of creamy off white foam. Nose and flavor are of biscuits, grassy, bitter hops, a bit fruity. Medium in both body and carbonation. Crisp and quenching.

Poured from 12oz brown bottle into a clear pint glass. No freshness date. Purchased as part of seasonal 6-pack at World Market for $9.99. Awesome labels with great color and the broadsword adorning this seasonal offering.

A: Deep amber with creamy-appearing wheat-colored 1-2 finger head with decent retention but no lacing at any point.

S: Herbal hops with light fruity malt aromas

T: Salty biscuit flavor which is pleasant but inobtrusive. Herbal hops are a strange twist on this style. Malts are present but need to be bumped up a notch to given this a more bready, full flavor.

M: A bit fizzy but overal pretty easy to drink with an herbal and pale malt sweet aftertaste.

D: Decent beer but SABL beats it.

Shared by dkachur, from their seasonal six-pack.

A: Rather deep amber with a reasonable white head, though that's not all too significant.

S: Maltiness, a slight note of fruitiness, and a little bit of a buttered bread scent.

T: Some warm, toasted malts and a flavour like salted butter on the beginning that kinda dwindles with a few minutes.

M + D: Medium body, a little weightiness to it. Soft carbonation, and a smooth finish with a touch of dryness. Easy going lager, though it did seem to have some possible off flavours.

a: clear copper in color with a nice off-white cap, average retention

s: clean pilsner base with a nutty vienna/munich aroma, some biscuit, nice and malty with a balancing hop spice, earthy grasses, that characteristically musky st. george aroma is also present

m: carbonation on the high side of medium, body lighter without becoming thin, crisp and refreshing

t: starts malty with nutty munich and biscuit on a clean lager malt base, soon turns crisp with a moderate, grassy hop spice, clean finish, a wonderfully balanced and flavorful lager

d: high, can't believe this doesn't get more love, lager syndrome I suppose

six fresh from the brewery, 2 days in the bottle

12 oz. bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: A dark rusty copper color, without much lacing or carbonation drifting to the top of the glass, though the head is quick to charge up a bit with a swirl of the brew.

Smell: Grassy and floral hop aromas with some earthiness and citrus and not much else.

Taste: Floral and grassy hop flavors dominate, with grain and earthiness at the end.

Mouthfeel: Fairly light-bodied, and a bit too watery with the carbonation levels a bit too low.

Drinkability: This was a weird brew for me. It taste like no other Vienna Lager I've had, and was more like a pilsner than anything else. I expected a little more punch, variation, and flavor, especially from a brewery I admire very much. Maybe the style can differ to the point where if blindfolded you'd have no idea what it is, but I'm not sure how much faith I have in the style if that's the case. This was a decent brew, but if I'm going to pick more of the style, this wouldn't be the next I'd choose.
